II. Give the functions of the following parts of the microscope

1. Eyepiece - contains the lens that allows you to view the


specimen.

2. Eyepiece tube - maintains the proper distance between


the eyepiece and the objective lens.

3. Objective lenses - collects light coming through the


object and magnifies it.

4. Nose piece - holds objective lens in place.

5. The Adjustment knobs - moves the stage or upper part


of microscope.

6. Stage - holds and support microscope slides containing


the specimen.

7. Aperture - and adjustable opening in a camera’s lens.

8. Microscopic illuminator - the light source located below


the specimen.

9. Condenser - focuses the ray of light through the


specimen.

10. Diaphragm - controls the amount of light that comes


through the aperture.

11. Condenser Focus Knob - moves the stage slightly to


help you sharpen or fine tune the specimen.

12. Abbe Condenser - concentrates the light into a


beam.

13. The Rack Stop - an adjustment that determines how


close the objective lens can get to the slide.
