CHAPTER 4
INTRODUCTION
This chapter presents the findings, analysis and interpretation of the gathered data
whose main objective is to find out the impacts of working while studying among the Grade
12 students in Quezon City. Figure 1-3 depicts the demographic characteristics of our
findings, while Figure 4-8 interprets the students questionnaire responses.

The figure shows the present age of the students who participated to be a respondents and
answered the interview questionnaire that the researchers provided. The interview was
conducted among the Grade 12 students in Quezon City. Out of 15 respondents 6 were 17
years old having a (40%) Also, 6 of respondents aged 18 years old have (40%), 2 of the
respondents aged 19 years old have a (13.3%) while the aged 20 were (6.7%). This data
implies that the majority who responded or participate in the interview for this study are students
aged 17-18 years old. The larger portion of the students aged 17-18 years old indicates that
they are mostly who work while studying around Quezon City in this time of pandemic.

Figure 2 demonstrate the strand of the respondents who responded to the researchers
provided questionnaire. As depicted by figure 2, it present the types of strand that were taken by
15 respondents around the schools in Quezon City. Out of 15 respondents working students
who are ABM student were 7 (46.7), 6(40%) were HUMSS student, CK student were 1(6.7%),
And AS-A student 1(6.7%). This analysis implies that the majority of the strand in working
students were from ABM strand. Moreover, Students from every strand are also students who
work hard to achieve their goals while studying.

Figure 4 demonstrates the perspectives of the respondents of having work while studying.
Out of 15 respondents. 2 (13.3%) of them said that it is either better and not better to have work
while studying while 6 (40%) of them responded that it is better to have work while studying, and
7 (46.7%) of them said that it is not better to have work while studying. The results have found
out that there are many respondents who are disagree of having work while balancing his/her
studies. The other respondents thinks it is better to work while studying based on their own
experiences. And the least students said it is either better and not better to be a working
students based on how they managed their time.

This figure shows the reasons of respondents that pursue them to work while studying. Out
of 15 respondents, the students who say "Family financial problem" were 6 (40%), the students
who say "To save money" were 4 (25%), the students who say "To support their needs" were 4
(25%) while the other students who say "To gain experience" was only 1 (10%). This analysis
depicts that most of the students pursue themselves to work while studying in able to provide
their family financial needs. This just showing that the respondents wants to help their family in
terms of financial needs through working while studying. This figure also showing their valid
reasons why they need pursue themselves to work while studying.

There are a lot of positive and negative impacts of being a working students. Figure 6
illustrate that students had different answers regarding the positive and negative impacts of
working while studying. Out of 15 respondents, there were 7 (48.1%) students who said they
have been experiencing positive impacts of beings a working student, there were also 7 (48.1%)
students who said they have been experiencing negative impacts of being a working student,
while there was only 1(3.7%) student who said he/she was experiencing both of the positive and
negative impacts of being a working students. In this analysis there are equal computation for
negative and positive impacts based on 14 respondents. On the other hand, there was one
respondent who was currently experiencing both of the impacts. This analysis also shows that
everyone can experience the positive and negative effects of being a working student.

know that they might

impacts but maybe in
different time and
moment.

This figure shows the challenges that the challenges that the students are experiencing
while studying and working at the same time. Out of 15 (100%) respondents, 12 (82.4%) of
them are experiencing having lack of sleep and time management. 2 of the respondents having
(11.8%) also experienced having difficulties in understanding the lessons. In addition, 1 (5.9%)
of them is having a connectivity issue while attending classes. The challenges faced among the
respondents were mostly having a lack of sleep and time management that hindrance them
from focusing on working and studying that could affect their performance as a student and a
worker. Moreover, this analysis data shows that every working student tends to have difficult
experiences about how they managed to be a working student.
