opportunities and experiences.
On October 8, 2005, magnitude 7.6 earthquake
struck South Asia, leaving over 75,000 dead and hundreds of
thousands injured and homeless. Pakistan-administered
Kashmir suffered the most damage.

Impak responded with the


2006 Quake Relief Summer Program.

Fourteen participants from the US, UK and Canada


were selected to try and make a difference in the region in the
areas of health, education and infrastructure.

Concern for Children (CFC)
Mission: Design, implement and replicate models for sustainable development
for children within at-risk populations based on intensive needs assessment.

QRSP Project:
Project Kitab aims to motivate the community into self-help and to promote
responsibility and rigor in administration and teaching. Participants will work
with primary school children in the villages of Chikkar and Bandi Chakkan
and create programs for their social and educational development.

Operation Heartbeat (OHB)
Mission: To provide medical relief and assistance to the people of countries

developing curriculum and enhancing the learning environment.
Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP)
Mission: To harness people’s potential to help themselves through establishing a
network of grassroots institutions for poverty reduction, sustainable and equitable
development.

QRSP Project:
Support, monitor and evaluate various SRSP earthquake rehabilitation
programs. Provide teacher assessment and capacity building for community-
based schools.

Impak partners with British-based TravelPak to give its participants an
adventurous, organic experience through some of Pakistan’s most beautiful
destinations. The retreat gives participants the opportunity to come together
as a group, share their summer projects, and experience Pakistan on a whole
new level.
The success of the 2006 Quake Relief Summer Program is
built on the support received by many individuals who have
helped Impak by volunteering time and resources.
