Design a Line
What is your theme? For my theme I wanted to have a color scheme mostly cool colors and a
few neutral tones. I live for simplicity, in patterns and color blocking clothes, along with
comfort in material (flowy, loose, stretchy). So, the designs I created harbor those ideas, while
still exhibiting stylish cuts of garments and ensembles

Color Scheme
How does this tie into your theme? This shows the simple pattern
of squares created by white lines. Along with the color blocking of
colors in how ever garment stays one uniform color. The skirt as
dark blue-green and light blue-green.

Design details (at least 2):

Sleeveless
Mock neck, seen in the shirt
Fitted pencil cut skirt

What is unique?
This is a very flattering but comfortable look. The fitted clothes
emphasize the contour of one’s body but with the stretch material
of the clothes it is easy to move around in. Allowing you to still
dress up for an occasion or professional work environment.

What is the color scheme and what colors are used to create it?
This is monochromatic look using tints and tones of green-blue in
the skirt and shirt. This look also includes neutral colors of black
seen in the shoes and white in the pattern on the shirt.

Describe the fabric.

Skirt made up of 68% Rayon, 27% Nylon, 5% Spandex, satin
weave, smooth

Why is this fabric appropriate for your design?

This is meant to be a very form fitting design and the fabric
makeup of the skirt allows it to hug the figure while allowing
stretch for movement

Structural Lines
How does this tie into your theme? This design showcases
the trendy pantsuit look while still being natural looking and
comfy. This is done by incorporating the neutral color brown,
as well as having minimal patterns and limited color
distribution (most of one color is found in one spot).

Design details (at least 2):

¾ sleeve
Deep v—neck
Straight leg pants
High waisted pants

What is unique? This illustration takes the pantsuit style and

adds visual interest to this sophisticated look by having a
variety of colors, the blue green shirt and light pastel green
jacket.

Which lines are predominant and what effect does that

have on the garment?
The predominant lines are the vertical white lines of the
pants. These help to lengthen the appearance of the legs as
well as the pants themselves which is good because they are
of a looser fit which could make one’s silhouette look wider.

Describe the fabric.

Pants made of 99% Polyester, 1% viscose, satin weave,
brown with white stripes

Why is this fabric appropriate for your design? This is a

breathable and smooth appearance. The breathability caters
toward the comfort of the wearer and the smooth
appearance allows one to look dressed up and professional.

Asymmetrical Balance
How does this tie into your theme? This one changes it up a
bit with the colors being a warm yellow-green. However, it
stays consistent in the color blocking effect I used by having
each bit item of clothing to one general color. It also is a
loose fitted dress (not a body-con) allowing for breath ability.

Design details (at least 2):

Bell sleeve
Round neck
Raised waistline

What is unique? This plain style of dress becomes more

visually interesting when the wrap skirt around the waist is
added. It helps to create contour in the figure while keeping
the breathable aspect of the clothes underneath. Or one
could decide to not wear the wrap and stick with the minimal
plain dress.

How asymmetrical balance achieved in the garment? The

asymmetrical balance is achieved in the distribution of color.
The light shirt underneath the darker colored dress. As well
as the design detail of the wrap skirt that goes over the dress
and its side slit.

Describe the fabric.

The skirt wrap made up of 100% polyester, possibly a leno
weave, paisley pattern, sheer

Why is this fabric appropriate for your design?

Visual interest is created by a see-through layering effect
because of the sheer quality. It also allows for pattern to
appear while remaining minimal and simplistic.

Focal Point.
How does this tie into your theme? This
illustration shows the trendy high waist wide leg
pants white simple details like the gold buttons
to add some visual interest. The large stripe of
color on the shirt also adds to that as well. Yet
everything comes together easy on the eyes.

Design details (at least 2):

Round neckline
Butterfly sleeve
Wide leg pants

What is unique? I would say this look can be

accessorized easily for example I paired the
foundational elements of the outfit (the pants
and shirt) with a small handbag and head band.
This look can be both dressed up and down very
easily.

Where is the focal point?

The focal point of this illustration is the bold dark
pants that bring attention to the length of the
legs. This happens because the surrounding
colors are lighter and are broken up into smaller
increments, whereas the pants are a large
portion and one solid color.

Describe the fabric.

Pants made of polyester, satin weave, smooth,
green

Why is this fabric appropriate for your design?

The satin weave creates a smooth uniform look
that can be dressed up or down, the green
coloration coincides with my desired color
scheme of all the designs.

Rhythm
How does this tie into your theme?
This look provides comfort in that overalls stay up no matter
what! It is one of my favorite things no belts and it doesn’t
have to be perfectly fitted to one’s waist either. This stays
true to the color blocking theme as the overalls are one color
with small polka dot designs and the shirt a light green.

Design details (at least 2):

Boxy cut T-shirt
Round neck

What is unique?
This design remains unique in that the coloration of the
overall is a deep blue green color and that it exhibits small
polka dots on it. Adding a little spice to denim overalls

What type of rhythm did you illustrate? What effect does it

have on the garment? I illustrated the rhythm of repetition in
the repeating polka dot details in the overalls.

Describe the fabric. Denim Overalls 100% cotton, twill weave,

polka dot pattern

Why is this fabric appropriate for your design?

This is a good breathable fabric for jeans and adds to the
simplistic casual aspect of my theme, the coloration also
coincides with the theme (blue-green).
