Introduction
What is Food Waste?
▸ Office of Resource Conservation and Recovery
2018 Wasted Food Report defined food waste
as plate waste, spoiled food, or peels and rinds
considered inedible that are managed in a
variety of methods other than donation to feed
people.

Our Objective
▸ Achieve a sustainable and economical approach
to food waste management in the Ohio
Department of Rehabilitation & Correction
(ODRC)

correctional facilities to landfills.

Solution
Our Solution
▸ Anaerobic Digesters with Energy Converters
▹ Reduce food waste sent to landfills
▹ Convert food waste into resource
▸ Food Waste Detection Technology
▹ Weigh produced food waste
▹ Help with food waste reduction
▹ Guide future food production decisions

Food Waste Detection Technology
Winnow Food Waste Technology

▸ The wastebin is placed on a

smart scale, which can capture
the weight of waste thrown into
the bin
▸ An AI detection system
connected to the Tablet will
recognize the type of food waste
and generate reports
▸ Can reduce food waste by
40-70% and reduce food costs

Conclusion
The implementation of our products can help achieve effective
food waste management while also earning ODRC some revenue,
and thereby can set an example for other prison systems to
follow.

Next Step...
24
Moving Forward
Reducing food waste requires long-term efforts and support of
each individual.

We will continue to optimize our solutions and programs to

implement in more institutions.
