What kind of flowers do you know?

Well, I know lots of flowers like violets, roes, daisy, lavenders, tulip, among others. Although
I don’t have a green thumb, I make sure to have some flower plants at home to make my
house lively.. I ask my grandfather to plant flowers in his garden and take care of them since
he’s naturally good at planting.
Are there any flowers that have special meanings in Vietnam?
The lotus is a beautiful sight in Vietnam. You see them everywhere – in art, architecture,
fashion and design. Lotus flowers can be many different colors, and each carries its own
meaning. White represents purity, while pink shows a devotion to Buddha. Biside they
have a strong life in the mud, therefore, they give so much mearning of the life
and make us insprire.
Have you ever planted any flowers?
Yes, several times but they just died. I believe I don’t really have the natural ability to grow
plants but that does not stop me from collecting ornamental plants at home. my granfather is
great at planting so we have a lovely garden at home.
Have you sent flowers to someone?
Yes! In our country, sending flowers to our parents, lovers, and teachers is part of our culture.
So every year, we make an effort to buy a bouquet of flowers and give them to people who
are near and dear to us, but for example, I just pick flowers in our garden and send them to
my parents or to my closest friends who celebrate their birthdays.

b. Describe a good law in your country. You should say:
What it is
How you know about it
What people think about this law
and explain why you think that it is a good law.

Well, I’m particularly appreciate the drunk driving law in Vietnam in recent

years.

You know, Vietnam has experienced phenomenal growth in motor vehicles,

especially motorcycles in the last decades. This initially led to an increase in
deaths from road traffic crashes, mainly caused by drunk driving. Therefore, I
personally believe that the drunk driving law is a great attempt to reduce the
country’s high numbers of road crashes and fatalities, as well as raise
awareness among traffic participants. I came to know about this law about a
couple of months ago when I had to do some research about some sensible
laws in Vietnam.

So basically, according to Vietnamese law, specifically the law on road

traffic, driving under the influence of alcohol is strictly prohibited. In fact,
early in 2016, the Vietnamese government issued a Decree about road traffic and
increased fines for drunk drivers with a view to improving public
awareness about traffic safety and reducing traffic accidents.

So the Decree states clearly that the offense of driving under the influence of

refusing to comply with a police-ordered alcohol or drug test will be subject to a
fine up to 18 VND million.  On top of that, violators will have their driver’s
license revoked for a month and their vehicle impounded for a week. You can
even get a couple of years in jail in other countries if you are against this law.

I am not really sure about whether this law is enforced in Vietnam  or not.
Probably, the police do not have adequate equipment to conduct frequent
roadside checking of drivers who are not sober. As well as this, the death
toll because of being drunk is still relatively high. Without proper control, the
victims of drunk driving are likely to increase given the fact that the Vietnamese
people consume alcoholic drinks at an alarming level compared to our
counterparts in other countries.

I do hope this law should have stiffer penalties for drunken drivers in the years to
come. You know good law enforcement only comes with well-paid, well-trained
and well-equipped police force, which would definitely make our society
safer.
