1. Background
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is the executing agency of
Official Development Assistance of the Japanese government that,
according to its vision towards "Leading the world with trust", focuses on
solving the problems of developing countries using the most appropriate
tools of the different assistance methods considering the region, the country
and the problem to which they are destined.
In this year 2021, JICA celebrates its 30th anniversary of activities in Nicaragua,
focusing its activities on 3 basic pillars derived from the National Human
Development Plan, which are "Establish the foundation for economic
revitalization", "Social development in poor rural areas" and "Environmental
conservation and disaster risk reduction". To achieve them, four
corresponding programs are defined to strategically focus efforts, these
programs being: (1) Urban Development for the Metropolitan Area of
Managua, (2) Development of Local Capacities, (3) Strengthening of Social
Services and (4) Environmental Conservation and Disaster Risk Reduction.
The JICA office in Nicaragua is now hiring a Program Officer in charge of the
execution of programs and projects, and the necessary procedures and
supports requested.
5. Scope of Work
Main functions and responsibilities:
1) Formulation, coordination, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the
projects with JICA officials, Japanese experts, counterpart institutions and
donors’ agencies.
2) Carry out other functions assigned by your superior.

6. Professional Profile (Required Skills and Experiences)
1) Education
- Bachelor's degree in the area of Economics, Finance, Business
Administration, Law, Science, Engineering or similar higher education.
2) Experience
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the area of project
formulation or similar in governmental or international institutions;
- Experience with international missions would be an advantage.
3) Language
- Excellent writing, reading, listening and oral communication skills in both
Spanish and English are essential;
4) Competencies
- High willingness to learn new knowledge;
- Logical and analytical thinking based on the facts to reach conclusions
about the possible causes and solutions to problems demonstrating your
good knowledge in your expertise;
- Ability to work in a team with several members of different backgrounds;
- Efficiency in the fulfillment of responsibilities, observance of deadlines and
the achievement of results;
- Pro-active attitude, own initiative and flexibility to achieve the missions
and tasks that are require to develop;
- Oral and written communication skills;
- Management of the software and tools necessary for work, such as
Microsoft Office.
7. Salary
800-1,000 USD
According to the experience and skill of the candidate.

Date: December 2 - 3, 2021 (provisional)
The result of the pre-selection will not be reported to all applicants, but only
to those who approved. Applicants approved in the pre-selection will
receive notice about the time and date one or two days before the
interview.
9. Others
- All the information obtained on the activities carried out by JICA Nicaragua
will be the property of the agency, which must be confidential.
