1) What need was identified in your needs assessment?

● There are 86 youth service organizations in the greater Orlando metro area, and some
other organizations are providing similar programs. However, the current situation of
poverty is still a big problem among the children and their families. They are still
struggling to fulfil the most basic needs like health, education, and access to many other
resources. Our programs will focus on these issues to provide the learning and health
care services, including, but not limited to: school supplies, homework assistance, food
programs.
● Since poverty disproportionately impacts women, especially those with children. In
Orange County, 41% of single female-headed households with children are in poverty.
Our program will include providing after school care, skill training, and job searching,
helping them to obtain the ability to take better care of their child.
2) Write a mission statement for your program based on your attempt to meet the needs
identified in the needs assessment. (2 points)
● Our mission is to improve the lives of the children and their families through mentorship,
healthcare, and education.
3) What nonprofit theory most relates to the reason your nonprofit exists? Please
explain. (2 points)
● We think the Sociologists’ theory relates most to the reason our nonprofit exists. The
Sociologists theory describes how involvement in nonprofits helps socialize individuals,
reinforce norms and values, and develop social capital creating interpersonal bonds of
trust and cooperation and counteracting loneliness and isolation. Their theories
emphasize the roles of community networks of individuals, groups, and organizations.
Our nonprofit's goal is to bring the community together, teach them how to be financially
independent, and help children succeed in school and/or life. These theories describe
the goal of what our organization wants to achieve.
