This Journal follows the New York City Police officers. The Journal mentions officers' careers

ended based on reasons for misconduct between 1975-1996. The authors include the race and

gender of the officers involved in misconduct. Those officers who were involved in misconduct

were compared to their peers who served honorably. Data is also provided to show previous

research of misconduct of police officers, and one graph shows the percentage of officers and

their education level. The authors are two researchers who examined different cases used as

evidence in this article. The intended audience of this paper would be those who want to know

about what was occurring in New York City with the police officers around 1975-96 or

researchers looking into previous cases similar to the ones they are working HN two different

factors can affect the type of misconduct an officer gets involved in.

Examination of Reporting Time and Police Misconduct Complaint Dispositions, Deviant

Behavior, DOI: 10.1080/01639625.2021.1p0

This Journal is based on a study of data collected that included allegations of misconduct by

police officers. The study mentions how certain people might delay reporting an officer for

misconduct because of embarrassment. Overall, the Journal mentions how the process to

report misconduct is lengthy and how in the end, the officers will get things their own way

because their own peers do the investigations. Basically, not being fair. The Journal also

mentions that fairness must be something implied in agencies when doing misconduct research
of an officer. The authors are researchers, and one of them is a professor in the Department of

Criminal Justice. The intended audience would be researchers or a person in the Criminal

Justice field wanting to know more information about misconduct. Just like the rest of the

journals, once again, gender is mentioned. In this Journal, it is mentioned to demonstrate the

allegations each gender has received.

The main findings the journal mentions are cases that involve police corruption and police

misconduct. Suggest external review of misconduct cases should take place, no more internal

review. This would create better relationships between the community and officers. Since

complaints are handled internally, many complaints get dropped throughout the process. There

are tables shown in the Journal, and one table shows reasons why people who were

interviewed think outside investigations are a good thing. The author of this Journal is a

professor from the University of Toronto. The intended audience of this Journal could be the

community who wants to know how external reviews of complaints can go. Like the other three

journals, this Journal provides evidence and data to show proof of what is being mentioned.

Tables are used, and those tables are explained to the reader. The other journals mention a lot

of the same information with different evidence.
