organization:
A. Opportunity:
Other new forms of technology, such as machine learning, deep learning, and the Internet
of Things, are linked to artificial intelligence (IoT). It'll almost certainly find its way into
programming, allowing developers to tackle problems in reverse. This enables for faster
problem resolution, which may benefit other businesses such as customer service.
Right now, we're seeing AI being implemented in the automotive industry. It is used by
Tesla car models to self-drive on the highway and park without the intervention of a
human. Obviously, this is something right out of a science fiction novel (aka awesome as
hell), but it's also useful for people with infirmities that have hampered their ability to
drive.
We can use AI to automate mundane, repetitive chores. This is ideal for folks who would
rather focus on the "big picture" than worry about these details. Entrepreneurs and
startups with staff that wear many hats and are overworked will appreciate AI for this.
And, while AI presents several benefits, it also poses just as many (if not more) risks.
B. Challenges:
Many people believe that artificial intelligence will result in employment losses. And, to
be honest, it's only on a small scale. Consider Walmart's self-checkout lanes. When a
customer has an issue, there are several of them, with only one or two personnel stepping
in to help. For corporations, a world without humans working as cashiers is a conceivable
option.
People question if AI will become so intelligent that humans will no longer be able to
control it. This may appear to be a distant concern, but it could be closer than you think.
Watson, an IBM supercomputer, debuted on the game show Jeopardy in 2011 and won
more than $5 million. Watson is cloud-connected and makes use of machine learning and
analytics technologies. On the show eight years ago, it demonstrated to be smarter than
humans (at least in terms of finding, using, and retaining information fast) – and this was
back when artificial intelligence was "new."
