EXAMINATION FOR DIRECT RECRUITMENT OF ASSISTANT ENGINEERS FOR
THE FOLLOWING DEPARTMENTS :

1. PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT :

Name of Post : Assistant Engineer/ Assistant Surveyor of Works.
Number of Post : 10(ten) [unreserved – 6, ST-3 and SC-1].
Scale of Pay : Rs. 7,500 – 12,000/- with usual allowances

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
A candidate must be a citizen of India.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A candidate must have –

A Degree or AMIE in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised

University/Institution.
OR
A Diploma in Civil Engineering having a minimum of 3 years course or its equivalent from a
recognised University/Institution with at least 5 year service as S.O. Grade – I or a post declared by the
Government as equivalent thereto on a regular basis.

2. POWER DEPARTMENT :

Name of Post : Assistant Engineer (Electricity)

Number of Post : 8(eight) [unreserved – 4 and ST – 4].
Scale of Pay : Rs. 7,500 – 12,000/- with usual allowances.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:

A candidate must be a citizen of India.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A candidate must have –

A Degree or AMIE in Electrical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised

University/Institution.
OR
A Diploma in Electrical Engineering having a minimum of 3 years course or its equivalent from
a recognised University/Institution with at least 5 year service as S.O. Grade – I or a post declared by
the Government as equivalent thereto on a regular basis.
AGE LIMIT FOR THE POSTS IN ITEM No. 1 AND 2

A candidate shall not be less than 21 years and more than 35 years on the 1 July of the year in
which the Examination is advertised by the Commission with upper age relaxable by 5 years in the
case of the candidates belonging to ST and SC and 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to OBC
provided that the upper age limit is relaxable for Government servants appointed under the
Government of Manipur to the extent of the period of continuous service put in the post/ service and a
Government servant who belongs to SC/ST/OBC will get the facility admissible to a Government
servant in addition to the relaxation admissible to SC/ST/OBC candidates. Further the upper age limit
mentioned above has been relaxed by another 5 years for all categories as a one time measure by the
State Government vide order No. 3/11/2004-DR/DP (B) dt. 15.7.2005.

2. The posts may be increased or decreased.
3. Rs. 200/- only for General/OBC and Rs. 50/- for SC/ST in cash in T.R.-5 receipt should
be submitted along with the application form at the counter of Manipur Public Service
Commission.
4. Closing date of issue and receipt of application form will be 8 September, 2006
5. A Combined Competitive Examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant
Engineers/Assistant Surveyor of Works for Public Health Engineering Department as well as
for Assistant Engineers of Power Department, Government of Manipur will be held sometime
in the month of October, 2006 under the “Manipur Combined Competitive Examination for
direct recruitment of Assistant Engineers, Rules, 2006. Scheme of Examination along with
information for candidates will be supplied at the time of issue of application form.
Examination schedule will be announced after the closing date of the submission of the
application form.
6. The decision of the Commission as to the eligibility or otherwise of the candidate will be
final.
7. Loss/delay due to postal service will not be the responsibility of the Commission and no
claim on such matter will be entertained under any circumstances.
8. 5(five) copies of candidate’s recent passport size photograph alongwith the required
certificates from HSLC/AISSE/equivalent onwards to be authenticated by the candidate
himself alongwith self addressed stamped envelope of Rs. 5/- (size 27 c.m. x 12 c.m. ) and
postage stamp of Rs. 5/- for Acknowledgement Card affixed thereon, should be submitted
alongwith the application form by the candidate.

The prescribed application form is obtainable on cash payment of Rs. 20/- at the
Commission’s Counter.

INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATE

Recruitment for 8(eight) posts of Assistant Engineers(Electrical) in the Power Department,

Manipur. 4(four) posts are reserved for ST. All posts are temporary.
