NEC Training - Hardware Module Identification

1|Page
Introduction
The purpose of the training is to familiarize the team with NEC PTP technology.

The course will cover 2 parts:

Part #1 is Hardware Module Identification

First, the team to be introduced to the HW. This part includes all variation of NEC HW types, family
groups, ODU types, Power Variations and type of cables.

Table of Contents:

NEC Modules:

we have nine modules using up to day

Power Type:
Power connectivity- DC, AC and POE Power Modules to MDU

We have three scenarios when we are use MDU (outdoor completely)

- DC power module with DC MDU interface

9|Page
- AC power module with LAN MDU interface

- AC power module with LAN MDU interface (POE) you need power adapter output 30w
minimum

Power connectivity- DC Power Module to IDU

We have only one scenario when we are use IDU & ODU.

- DC power module from rectifier / Rack distribution connected direct to NEC.

NEC Cabling:
Cables in NEC are used to connect:

1- Your PC to the link (access cable)

2- Link to Core network (i.e. like our PMP BS to core)
3- Link to another link (data interface connectivity)
4- INDOOR or MDU to ODU.

Here are the details:

Access Cable-PC to IDU or MDU

You need Eth straight cable to cover

You need Serial – USP cable to cover (IPASOLINK-NEO modules)

The pictures below show the access port for IDU and MDU

Link to Core

All IDUs installed into Mobily FON site they are connected to Mobily core by electrical or fiber interface
depend to what is type of Mobily core used (switch, Nokia HUB, Huawei equipment)

Link to Link

We make cascaded connectivity between link to link to transport customers traffic and deliver it to
Mobily FON site.

Type of cables used for above situation:

1- UTP Cables

13 | P a g e
Use electrical interface to make cascaded between NEC IDUs or MDUs.

2- Fiber cables

- We use optical interface to make cascaded between NEC IDUs or MDUs.

- It’s used in situations of high bandwidth or there isn't any free electrical interface

- Fiber Type & SFP

 Single Mode Fiber (SMF): 1000BASE-LX SFP and has a duplex LC connector.
 Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF): 1000BASE-SX SFP. The SFP has a duplex LC connector.

Coaxial cables

From indoor to outdoor, we are use two type of cables

- LMR

- RJ8

Between MDU & ODU (Jumper cable)
