PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

The Parish Council meeting was held on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 17:30. The following were
the council members and parishioners that attended this meeting:

Father Sam opened the meeting with a prayer. The following topics were discussed:

1. Parish Council President SCPO Mike Rivera welcomed the attendees and introduced the meeting
agenda. He explained that the Parish Life Coordinator contract, Religious Education Coordinator
contract and the Music Director contract still on hold. Father Damian and SCPO Rivera will meet
with Ch. Locke in this regard after Confirmation. SCPO Rivera informed the Parish Council that he
will be TDA from April 24th to May 22nd. Next Parish Council will be led by the Vice-President Bill
Holt.

2. MCCW represented by Kim Besel. MCCW collected 10 large boxes of adult clothing for the St.
Vincent De Paul Respite Center. Kim added that on April 14th, Father Erikson from St. Joseph Church
will be their guest speaker. Kim added that MCCW is sponsoring Adoration until midnight on Holy
Thursday. On May 5th, MCCW will held their elections/nominations for the new MCCW Executive
Board during their monthly meeting. The same day, MCCW will be hosting the Second Annual
International Rosary.
MCCW monthly report was attached to the minutes.

3. MUSIC- Herman Gonzalez explained the choir safety issues in the altar are being taken care little by
little. Herman stated that the safety team agreed in that the set up was not safe. Herman pointed out
that several changes have been made to improve the sound. Ch. Reed has promised that the RSO is
going to train people to learn how to use the equipment, so the sound improves.
- Joseph Cruz stated that he has not found anybody to sing on Palm Sunday 8:30 am mass. He said
that he was going to ask John Rose. Joseph said that Confirmation Music draft is done, and he was
going to share it with Father for approval. Joseph highlighted that we are waiting for the missalettes
to arrive. Father Sam confirmed that the missalettes will arrive by Friday (April 15th). First
Communion practice will be on Saturday 16th in the social room. Joseph asked if the Bishop Higgins

will need any music while he is confirming. The three Deacons agreed in that the Bishop will need
silence while confirming.

4. First Communion—20 children will receive First Communion on April 17th. Reconciliation is on
Saturday April 16th. Sherry Wodicka explained that we will reserve the first four or five pews for the
first communicants and their families.

5. Four altar servers are needed for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Easter and Confirmation.

6. Kim Besel will take pictures on Palm Sunday/ First Communion.

7. Sherry Wodicka will decorate the Chapel for Palm Sunday on Saturday. She stated that some
parishioners are going to donate Palms for Palm Sunday.

8. SCPO Rivera stated that old furniture in the chapel is going to be removed soon, most likely by Palm
Sunday.

9. SCPO Rivera informed the Parish Council that Sherry Wodicka will handle RE until the end of the
year.

10. The Financial Advisor, Tina Raby, handed out a detailed copy of the Financial Accounting Report
(March 7, 2011- April 8th, 2011). Tina shared a few discrepancies with the Purchase Order process.
Fr. Sam stated that he was going to talk to Chaplain Assistant Sgt. Williams to know the right
process, and Sgt. Williams responsibilities. Designated Offering for Mother’s Day weekend still
waiting for RSO approval.

11. Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast- SCPO Rivera asked the Parish Council and Ministry Coordinators
to provide him with a list of volunteers. Fran Simpson volunteered to coordinate this event. SCPO
Rivera asked her to provide him with the plan for this event.

12. St. Michael’s Day (September)- SCPO Rivera stated that we need to start planning St. Michael’s Day,
and we need a coordinator/s for this event. Lola Rivera said that Knights of Columbus could do a
great job in coordinating this event. Fran Simpson volunteered to coordinate this event as well. No
decision was taken at this meeting since the Grand Knight Ricardo Ruiz was absent in this meeting.
SCPO Rivera asked the Parish Council to think about celebrating St. Michael’s Day on a Saturday
evening after Mass, possible the last Sunday of September instead of on a Sunday like past years. The
Parish Council did not take any decision during the session, but agreed with the idea.

13. Deacon Kriegel closed the meeting with a prayer and blessing at 6:50pm.

14. The next Council meeting will be held at 17:30 hours on Tuesday 10th of May 2011.
