Common Explanations (1-5):
Reference:
These persons were sitting in two parallel rows containing four people each, in such a way that there is
an equal distance between adjacent persons. In row-1 Anuj, Veer, Ajay and Prem were seated and all
of them were facing south. In row-2 Dev, Jeet, Raj and Deep were seated and all of them were facing
north. Therefore, in the given sitting arrangement each member seated in a row faces another
member of the other row.

Inference:

Using the above hints we can create rough sketch of Row 1 and Row 2.

We will keep the rest of the information in mind while solving the puzzle.

Reference:

Ajay was sitting second to the right of the person who ordered Ice cream.
Raj was an immediate neighbor of the person who faces the person who ordered Ice cream.
Only one person was sitting between Raj and the person who ordered Pizza.

Inference:

Here, we have three possible scenarios under which we can use the above hints accordingly.

Case I: Case II:

Case III:
Reference:

Immediate neighbor of the person who ordered Pizza faces the person who ordered Sandwich.
The person who ordered Noodles faces the person who ordered Pastry.
Raj was not the one who ordered Pastry.

Inference:

At this point we cannot use the above hints in our case II so we can say that case II is an invalid case.

But, we can use the above hints in case I and III easily.

Case I: Case II:

Reference:

Dev was not the one who ordered Pizza.

Dev does not face the person who ordered Ice cream.
Jeet faces the person who ordered Burger.

Inference:

After using the above hints our case I and case III we can also fix the position of Deep in row 2 of both
case I and III.

Case I: Case III:

Reference:

The one who faces Deep sits to the immediate left of Anuj.
Veer does not sit at any of the extreme end of the line.
The person who ordered Ice cream does not face the person who ordered Pasta.

Inference:

At this point we cannot use the above hints in case I without contradicting the hint that Veer is not
sitting at the extreme end of the row so we can say that case I is an invalid case.

After using the above hints our case III can be redrawn as:

Case III:

At this point we can fill all the vacant spots in case III by fixing the position of Prem on extreme right of
row 1 and ensuring that Deep ordered Soup as this is the only possible order left for Deep under the
given conditions.

Case III:

1. Following the final solution we can say that Prem ordered Pastry.

Hence, the correct answer is option E.

2. Following the final solution we can say that the one who ordered Soup second to the right of the one
who faces the one who ordered Sandwich.

Hence, the correct answer is option B.

3. Following the final solution we can say that the one who ordered soup sits on the right of the one who
faces the one who sits on the immediate right of the one who ordered Ice cream.

Hence, the correct answer is option D.

4. Following the final solution we can say that Deep ordered Soup.

Hence, the correct answer is option C.

5. Following the final solution we can say that Veer is the one that does not belong to the group because
of all the persons in the given options Veer is the only person who is sitting in the middle of the row.

Hence, the correct answer is option A.

6. Distance covered by car P in 1 hour = 57 Km

Distance covered by car Q in 1.5 hours = 60 Km
Therefore, horizontal distance between points K and L = 500 – (57 + 60) = 383 Km
Distance covered by car P towards north = 57 x (2/3) = 38 Km
Distance covered by car Q towards south = 40 x (1/2) = 20 Km
Therefore, vertical distance between points K and L = 38 + 20 = 58 Km
Hence, the required difference = 383 – 58 = 325 Km
Option B is hence the correct answer.

Change in word: The words are placed at the extreme left end as they appear in the dictionary i.e. the
word that appears first in the dictionary will come first to the extreme left end of the step.

Change in number: The numbers are considered as per the descending order i.e. the greatest number
is chosen first and if it is an even number then 1 is added to that otherwise 1 is deducted from it and
placed at the extreme left end.

The operation is performed first on words and then on numbers but within the same step.

Step 6 24 vast 28 upper 39 like 46 flat 68 code 79 bill

12. From the common explanation it is clear that "29 38 like" is seen in the same sequence in step 3.
Hence option C is the correct answer.

13. From the common explanation it is clear that in step 5 the eight element from right end is "46" and
third to the left of 46 is "upper".
Hence option A is the correct answer.

14. From the common explanation it is clear that "68 code 79 bill vast 47 29 flat 38 like 25 upper" is the
step 2 of final output.
Hence option B is the correct answer.

15. From the common explanation it is clear that the sum of odd numbers in step 6 is 118 (39 + 79) and the
sum of even numbers in the same step is 166 (24 + 28 + 46 + 68)

The required difference = 166 – 118 = 48

Hence option D is the correct answer.

16. From the common explanation it is clear that 68 is exactly in the middle of like and bill in step 4.

"like 46 flat 68 code 79 bill"

Hence option B is the correct answer.

Common Explanation (17-19):

References:

There are seven teachers Gaurav, Rajesh, Vasant, Sanjay, Daneil, Mahadev and Jaipriya are taking class in
different subjects Tamil, English, Zoology, Botany, Physics, Chemistry and Social Science on different days
starting from Monday to Sunday.

Rajesh takes Botany class on Tuesday.

English class was held on last day.

There are more than two classes between the Botany and Zoology.

Number of classes above and below is same for the subjects of English and Chemistry respectively.

There are two persons taking class between Mahadev and Sanjay.

Neither Mahadev nor Sanjay takes class on either Sunday or Monday.

Inferences:

From above statements, we get the initial table as follows,

o Given, Classes are starting from Monday to Sunday. So based on that we form a table as shown.
o There are more than two classes between the Botany and Zoology. [So, the Zoology class must have
held on Saturday (only possibility) & Botany class held on Tuesday. Therefore three classes held in
between].
o As per given condition, English class was held on Sunday & Chemistry class was held on Monday, so in
between 6 classes each.
o Either Mahadev or Sanjay takes class on Wednesday or Saturday (two possibilities)

Tuesday Rajesh Botany Tuesday Rajesh Botany
Wednesday Mahadev Wednesday Sanjay
Thursday Thursday
Friday Friday
Saturday Sanjay Zoology Saturday Mahadev Zoology

Gaurav and Jaipriya are taking class on adjacent days.

Sanjay and Gaurav are not taking either Tamil class or Social Science class.

There is a gap of one day between Tamil class and Social Science class.

Jaipriya does not take Tamil class.

Inferences:

From above statements, following can be inferred:

o Gaurav and Jaipriya are taking class on adjacent days but not necessarily in the same order.
o Only possibility in both cases is, either Gaurav or Jaipriya takes class on Thursday or Friday.
o Similarly, Tamil or Social Science class held on either Wednesday or Friday. [Given, one gap in
between].
o Note: Gaurav, Sanjay and Jaipriya are not taking Tamil Class. Therefore Tamil class was held on
Wednesday and Social Science class was held on Friday.
o Similarly, Sanjay and Gaurav are not taking either Tamil class or Social Science class.

o So clearly, we get that Sanjay takes Zoology class on Saturday & Jaipriya takes Social Science class on
Friday. Thus we get the following table as shown.

Case: 2 [Eliminated]
Case: 1
No place left to locate Tamil Class
Days Teachers Subjects Days Teachers Subjects
Monday Chemistry Monday Chemistry
Tuesday Rajesh Botany Tuesday Rajesh Botany
Wednesday Mahadev Tamil Wednesday Sanjay Tamil - X
Thursday Gaurav Thursday Gaurav Tamil - X
Friday Jaipriya Social Science Friday Jaipriya Social Science
Saturday Sanjay Zoology Saturday Mahadev Zoology
Sunday English Sunday English
References:

Daniel and Gaurav are not taking classes immediately before or immediately after Sanjay.

Inferences:

From above statements,we can infer the following:

o Remaining only subject is Physics and it was taken by Gaurav on Thursday.

o Daniel doesn’t take class on immediately after Sanjay. Therefore Daniel takes Chemistry class on
Monday.
o Finally, Vasant takes English class on Sunday.

Thus we get the final completed table as follows,

Case: 1
Days Teachers Subjects
Monday Daniel Chemistry
Tuesday Rajesh Botany
Wednesday Mahadev Tamil
Thursday Gaurav Physics
Friday Jaipriya Social Science
Saturday Sanjay Zoology
Sunday Vasant English

17. The following common explanation, we get "Two classes”.

Hence, option C is correct.

18. From the following common explanation, we get that "The one who takes Tamil Class”is exactly in
between Daniel and Jaipriya..

Daniel-Monday & Jaipriya-Friday

Exact Middle, between Monday and Friday is Wednesday.

Wednesday-Mahadev-Tamil class

Hence, option D is correct.

19. The following common explanation, we get "Jaipriya-Tamil & and Rajesh- Social Science”.

Alphabetical order:

Case: 1
Days Teachers Subjects
Monday Daniel Chemistry
Tuesday Gaurav Botany
Wednesday Jaipriya Tamil
Thursday Mahadev Physics
Friday Rajesh Social Science
Saturday Sanjay Zoology
Sunday Vasant English

Hence, option D is correct.

20. The following common explanation, we get "Gaurav-Physics-Thursday”is the only right combination.

Hence, option C is correct.

21. Clearly, it's Thursday that comes exactly middle in the week and it's Gaurav who takes classes on
Thursday.

Option B is hence the correct answer.

Common explanation (22-26):

Reference:

E is the only daughter of C. H is female member and F is male member.

Inference:

H is a female and F is a male member of the family.

Reference:

C’s daughter is an immediate neighbor of one who is sitting at an extreme end of the line.

Inference:

C’s daughter is E and as per the above reference, she may sit at two places, therefore two cases arise
here:

Case 1: Case 2:

Reference:

Only three people sit between G and his wife.

Inference:

Hence, G is a male member of the family.

Reference:

C’s wife is not an immediate neighbor of E’s husband.

Inference:

Therefore, C is a male member.

Reference:

As per the summary, the relations in the family are as such:

C + → Having a daughter E, a wife, a granddaughter.

G + → Having a wife.
E–→ Having husband, a brother, father-in-law
H–→ Having daughter-in-law.
D– → Having an Aunt.
F+
Possible family tree:

Reference:

B → Having a daughter.
A → Having a brother-in-law and a mother.
G + → Having a wife.

Inference:

Using the above drawn family tree, and the below given References:, we will continue to complete
the seating arrangement:

Reference:

Only three people sit between G and his wife.

Inference:

G’s Wife is E, therefore 3 people sit between G and E.

Case 1: Case 2:
Reference:

B’s daughter sits second to the right of A’s brother-in-law.

C’s granddaughter does not sit at an extreme end of the line.

Inference:

Thus, D sits second to the right of G.

C’s granddaughter is D and she does not sit at any of the extreme end of the line.
Therefore,

Case 1:

G cannot face south as then D need to sit at extreme end, hence G is facing north .

Case 2:

G cannot face north as per this case.

Reference:

C’s wife is not an immediate neighbor of E’s husband. A’s mother sits on the immediate left of her son.

Inference:

Therefore, H is not an immediate neighbor of G and also H is seated to the immediate left of her son A,
thus:

Case 1: Case 2:

Reference:

The immediate neighbors of E’s brother face opposite directions. (i.e. If one neighbor faces north then
other faces south and vice versa.)

Inference:

E’s brother A is having G and H as immediate neighbors, they should face opposite direction.

Case 1: Case 2:

Reference:

The persons sitting at the extreme ends face opposite directions.(i.e. If one person faces north then
other faces south and vice versa.)

Inference:

Case 1: Case 2:

Reference:

H’s daughter-in-law sits second to the left of E’s father-in-law. F faces north. F is not an immediate
neighbor of D’s aunt. The immediate neighbours of F face same directions.(i.e. If one neighbor faces
north then other also faces north and if one neighbor faces south then other also faces south).

Inference:

Thus, B sits second to the left of F and F faces north direction.

F is not immediate neighbor of D’s Aunt who is E, therefore, F have to be between D and G.
As, B cannot be fixed at the left of F in case 1, hence, it fails here.
G and D face the same direction.

Case 1: Case 2:

Reference:

Both E and B face a direction opposite to that of D.(i.e. If D faces north then E and B faces south and
vice-versa.)
Inference:

Final seating arrangement:

Final family tree:

22. All the given statements are true.

Option A, is hence the correct answer.

23. Two people sit to the left of G.

Option B, is hence the correct answer.

24. D is third to the right of A.

Option C, is hence the correct answer.

25. H is grandmother of D.

Option C, is hence the correct answer.

26. F does not belong to that group because he is the only person here who is facing North.

Option D, is hence the correct answer.

27. Checking statement I:

Reference:

E stands in row-Y and faces G, who is immediate left of H.

Inference:

On the basis of given hint, following three cases can be prepared.

Reference:

A is second to the right of B, who is an immediate neighbor of D.

C is on the immediate right of the one who faces A.

Inference:

But as per first hint, Case-3 gets eliminated, as there is no place for B to sit adjacent with D.
Similarly Case-2 also fails, with respect to non-fulfillment of second hint.
Thus only case-1 persists in the following manner.

With this, it is clear that D faces C.

Hence data in statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Checking statement II:

With the given hints, following image can be prepared.

With this arrangement, we cannot determine the person who faces C.

Hence data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Hence option A is correct.

28. Checking statement I:

Loco Motion > Big Beat

Thus, we cannot figure out the price of second lowest ride with the given hints.

Hence data in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Checking statement II:

With the first hint, it is clear that Ferris Wheel has an immediate higher price than Big Beat.
Big Beat and Mad Bull share the maximum difference means that Mad Bull is the highest priced ride,
because we know that Big Beat is priced Rs. 80, which can’t be the highest price, so it the lowest price.

Mad Bull >_ >_ > _ > Ferris Wheel > Big Beat (80)

So, price of Ferris Wheel (second lowest priced ride) could be 85 or 90 or 95 or any other multiple of 5.

Hence data in statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

Checking both statements I and II:

Reference:

Big Beat was priced Rs. 80, which is just lower than that of Ferris Wheel, whose price is a multiple of 5.
Loco Motion was priced 25 rupees higher than Big Beat.
The price of Loco Motion was 10 rupees more than that of Ferris Wheel.
Only two rides were priced below Rs. 100.

Inference:

With respect to first and second hint, price of Loco Motion can be fixed as Rs. 105.
Thus, with the help of third hint, price of Ferris Wheel can be determined as Rs. 95.

Loco motion (105) > Ferris Wheel (95) > Big Beat (80)

As only two rides are priced below Rs. 100, so Ferris Whell must be the second lowest priced ride.

Hence both the statements together are necessary to answer the question.

Hence option E is correct.

29. Checking statement I:

Code for the word drive cannot be found.

Hence data in statement I alone is not sufficient.

Checking statement II:

Code for the word drive cannot be found because it is not mentioned in statement II.

Hence data in statement II alone is not sufficient.

Checking both statements I and II:

Code for drive is 'se'.

Hence data in both the statements together is necessary to answer the question.

Hence option E is correct.

30. Given Conclusion:

Some water is milk.

Given Statements:
I. Some milk is curd.
II. No curd is juice.
III. All curd is water.

Following the given conclusion we can observe that we need to find a relationship between two classes
'water' and 'milk'.
In S1 and S3 both the classes exist and the middle term 'curd' is also distributed once in S3.

Some milk is curd (I) + All curd is water (A) = Some milk is water

Clearly, this gives us the desired conclusion.

We can thus say that S3 is redundant or unnecessary here.

Option B is hence the correct answer.

31. Given Conclusion:

No uncle is aunt.

Given Statements:
I. All uncles are people.
II. All people are nephews.
III. No nephew is aunt.

Following the given conclusion we can observe that we need to find a relationship between two classes
'uncle' and 'aunt'.

In S1 and S3 both the classes exist but we need to take the help of S2 as well to link the middle terms
'people' and 'nephew' respectively.

All uncles are people (A) + All people are nephews (A) = All uncles are nephews.

All uncles are nephews (A) + No nephew is aunt (E) = No uncle is aunt.

Clearly, this gives us the desired conclusion.

We can thus say that all the given statements are necessary.

Option E is hence the correct answer.

32. Statements: U > M ≥ A = N < S , X=N≥Q=Y>R

Conclusions: M > Y , M = Y

For Conclusion I: M > Y

From statements I and II, we get: M ≥ A = N ≥ Q = Y

Here, the common sign between M and Y is ‘≥’. Hence M > Y is not true individually.

For Conclusion II: M = Y

From statements I and II, we get: M ≥ A = N = X ≥ Q = Y

Here, the common sign between M and Y is ‘≥’. Hence M = Y is not true individually.

But if we combine both the conclusions, we will get to know that Either M > Y or M = Y .

Thus, either conclusion I or conclusion II follows.

Hence option B is correct.

33. Statements: M ≥ P ≥ Q > R = S , B<T=H≥J>M

Conclusions: J ≥ Q , P > T

For Conclusion I: J ≥ Q

From statements I and II, we get: J > M ≥ P ≥ Q

Here, the common sign between J and Q is '>' . Thus J ≥ Q is false. Hence concluison I does not follow.

For Conclusion II: P > T

From statements I and II, we get: T = H ≥ J > M ≥ P

Here, the common sign between T and P is '>'. Thus T > P or P < T. Hence conclusion II also does not
follow.

Thus Neither conclusion I nor conclusion II follows.

Hence option E is correct.

34. Statements: T ≤ L< S ≤ K , S = G ≥ I > Q, U ≤ R < N = C = I

Conclusions: I. R < S II. T < Q

Combining the equations to find the relationship between R and S, we get: S = G ≥ I = C = N > R

Clearly, the common sign of inequalities between S and R is of '>'. Conclusion S > R or R < S is hence
stays true. C1, hence, follows.

Similarly, combining equations to find the relationship between T and Q, we get: T ≤ L< S = G ≥ I > Q

Clearly, there are opposite signs between T and Q , hence we can't define a relationship between
them. C2, hence, doesn't follow.

Option B is hence the correct answer.

35. Statements: T > H > L = S ≤ K < A, M = F > S > G ≥ I > Q, U ≤ B < N = C > I

Conclusions: I. H > I II. H = I

Combining the equations to find the relationship between H and I, we get

H>L=S>G≥I

Clearly, the common sign of inequalities between H and I is of '>'. Conclusion H > I is hence stays true.
C1, hence, follows.

Similarly, combining equations to find the relationship between T and B, we get

H>L=S>G≥I

Clearly, the common sign of inequalities between H and I is of '>'. Conclusion H = I is hence stays false.
C2, hence, doesn't follow.

Option B is hence the correct answer.
