Levels of Technology Integration:

 Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have
any “Voice or Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the
teacher.

X Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The
project is student-driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities,
selecting the topic of study and determining the technology tool to demonstrate
mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

 Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom,
publishing student work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by
showcasing the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the
classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This activity is great for visual learners and auditory learners! This is a great lesson for
English Language Learners as well. The subtitles are at the bottom in Spanish.

Lesson idea implementation:

I will begin the lesson by introducing the different types of animals. For example, farm
animals, sea animals, and wild animals. I will tell them that today we will be learning about
wild animals which are animals that live in their natural habitat and are not tamed in a zoo
or a house. I will then tell them that we will be learning the names of wild animals. We will
then watch the video. Watching the video will only take about 2 minutes.

Once the students are done, we will discuss what we saw on the video and then the students
will play a matching game where they will match a picture of the animal to the name of the
animal with the people at their table. This matching game should only take about 15 minutes
and provides differentiation because it is a hands-on activity that has pictures and requires
the students to work together. Once the students are done with the matching game, I will
call them over one at a time and record them saying the name of an animal and implement
that into the PowerPoint. This way, when they go home and practice the names of the
animals, they will hear them and their friends' voices, making it more engaging.

Reflective Practice:

This is a great tool to bring into the classroom to get your students engaged and provide
differentiation. You can customize your videos and make them over any topic, as well as add
a voiceover. After I implement their voice recordings onto the slides, I could publish this
PowerPoint on our classroom website for parents to see and help their students study the
names of wild animals.
