Ranking method is basically the comparison of an employee with other employees. This is
considered as the oldest method for performance evaluation. In this method, employees are
getting ranked from the best to worst or from the highest to lowest according to their
performance. In the ranking process, evaluators give ranks to employees based on particular
factor such as productivity, punctuality, leadership skills, communication skills, behavior and
attitude, technical expertise. The overall score is taken and the employees get ranked based on
that score. The employee who scores more than others, get the best or highest position in the
performance evaluation. Although ranking method is considered as one of the simplest
evaluation processes, it has some difficulties. First of all, Ranking method is time consuming and
it becomes difficult to rank individual in a large number of employees. Secondly, this method
tells which employee is performing better than the other employees but it is unable tell how
much better. Thirdly, it is difficult to compare one individual with others having varying
