Throughout this semester, I think I kept a solid grip over my writing and being able to get

my point across. However, I believe some of my assignments were somewhat lazily done and
that my interpretation of the prompts was not accurate for the assignment. For example, when
doing the white paper assignment, I did not accurately complete the prompt due to the fact that I
did not identify a proper problem and solution. While I think a good amount of this is my own
fault, I do think I would have benefitted from thinking more proactively and choosing a better
Reaktion book at the beginning of the semester.
One of my main goals for this class this semester was to further my skills with writing
and writing more professionally. Since I’m graduating in May, having these skills taught in class
are going to be helpful down any career path that I end up taking. Coming into this class, I
thought I had some pretty good writing skills, and coming out of this class, I feel as though
they’ve grown and gotten more use/experience. Like I stated above, I do feel that I might have
rushed some of my projects in this class and become somewhat lazy throughout the semester,
which I’m not very happy with myself for. I know that if I had given myself more time on the
large writing assignments, I would’ve gotten better grades overall on the assignments and I
would’ve felt better about them going forward in the course.
One of my assignments that I’m proudest of is probably my instructions assignment. It
was the main assignment this semester that I actually felt passionate about, primarily because I
was able to write about one of my primary interests, which was vinyl and taking care of your
records. There really isn’t an assignment I can think of to potentially add to the course – I feel
like all of the assignments we did were solid and they gave us all solid pieces to help us with our
professional writing skills in potential workspaces. One assignment I would potentially edit
would be the white paper assignment. While I understand the structure is intended to be a
problem/solution paper, when there were books to choose from that didn’t involve clear
ecological issues like mine, it was difficult to find a problem and solution that applied to my
book.
Overall, while there are some things I would obviously like to go back and restructure
that I wrote this semester, I’m happy with the work I did throughout this semester. This is
without a doubt one of the most difficult classes I’ve taken throughout my time at Clemson –
while I believe I do have strong writing skills, this class both helped me strengthen them even
further and showed me different styles of writing that I had not had much experience with
throughout other English courses I’ve taken in my time at Clemson.
