E Description

Engagement The students will enter the room and find their seat. Each student brings their
own Chromebook with them. They will each log onto their computer using their
google emails that are assigned to each of them. We will begin the lesson by
watching an introductory videos on multiplying and dividing decimals. Each
student also has headphones available that are assigned to them. The link to

Engagement The first assessment given will be a Quizlet live game. Each student will use
Assessment their own computer and log onto the game using a code given by the teacher.
They will be competing with one another. The game is reviewing adding and
subtracting decimals. The highest score receives candy or some other reward.

Exploration For the lesson, the students will be given an escape room challenge. The
activity is an interactive activity on google slides. The challenge focuses on
multiplying decimals. Although, we will continue our lesson and used the
materials to introduce dividing decimals as well.
The students will use their Chromebook and work independently or in a small
group. The teacher will offer individual support where needed.
The activity is self-checking. Therefore, the students will be able to not only
attempt the lesson but also check their answers before being able to “escape”

Exploration During the lesson, there is an assessment included in the slides. This includes
Assessment 10 problems. This will accurately give a representation of each student’s
knowledge.
The students will do the assessment as they are completing the slides. It is a
riddle and the students will know if they got the answers correct by completing
the riddle.
If needed, the teacher will lead a brief whole-class discussion if enough
students are struggling with the concept.

Explanation This lesson is not only reviews prior knowledge that is necessary in completing
the activities, but it also introduces new concepts that are extensions of the
previous lesson on adding and subtracting decimals.
Therefore, it is vital that the teacher and the students are engaged In the
lesson. The teacher will be able to gauge the students understanding and
provide instruction and interventions accordingly.

Explanation The students will complete a mystery picture on google sheets. This
Assessment assignment will be used as a formative assessment. It consists of 20 problems.
As they get the problems correct the mystery picture will appear.

Elaboration Students are able to apply what they have learning in this lesson
Students are given a budget then asked to choose which of 10 different dinner
items they would buy for Thanksgiving Dinner. Students determine the cost of
each dinner item individually then calculate the total cost of the dinner based on
the items they choose. They won’t have enough money to buy everything so
they’ll have to select items based on their prices. Students can work
individually, in pairs, or small groups.
By completing this activity students are adding, subtracting, multiplying and
dividing decimals to make sure they do not go over budget.

understanding and evaluate how close they have come to meeting the
objectives of the lesson.
