CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
SY 2016-2017 to SY 2019-2020
Introduction
For over a century of serving quality education, SACS is known to envision a Christian learning
community where every pupil’s heart is nurtured to desire what is good, mind is challenged to seek what
is true, and body is disciplined to express and create what is beautiful and useful. Consequently,
promoting a healthy school environment is one of the responsibilities of the school. Research confirms
that learners do better in school when they are emotionally and physically healthy. With sound mind and
healthy body, one can easily fulfill his/her academic goals. It is expected that pupils will increase their
food knowledge, acquire good eating habits and values and take responsibility for their health and well-
being. Proper nutrition therefore is essential and vital to a child’s growth and development.
This canteen evaluation is conducted annually to find out if the objectives/purposes of the
different canteen and food services have been provided and achieved. The chosen respondents for the
study are all pupils from Grade 5 and 6 levels for 4 consecutive school years (2016-2017 to 2019-2020).
The results of this assessment is deemed helpful in the improvement of the canteen and food services.

Data Analysis
The tabular presentations above reveals that the pupils in Grade Five (5) and Six (6) for four
consecutive school years have perceived the canteen / food services as moderately extensive and are
functioning well. This would mean that the canteen has offered satisfactory services to the pupils and
other clientele. Respondents in both school years yield seemingly similar results. This suggests that the
canteen’s best features are being maintained for two school years and the school has yet to work on
repeated recommendations from these respondents. The pupils share common rating with regards to the
reasonability of canteen and the food suppliers’ price and is supported in their common suggestions.
Likewise, they all find the canteen personnel and food suppliers courteous and friendly. The food servers’
honesty in giving out change and returning lost items were also commended by the pupils. However, their
service were criticized for being slow and less accommodating to pupils. Moreover, since the respondents
were all occupants of the Stella Maris (SM) Building, the pupils call for further improvement especially
the provision of chairs, tables and a spacious eating area.
Conclusion
Proper nutrition is essential and vital not only to the child’s growth and development but to
everybody who caters to the services of the canteen. Though the over-all result of this evaluation is
satisfactory, there are still areas in the canteen and food services that needs to be improved and modified
especially in the pricing of their foods /commodities. Proper planning for a variety and nutritious food is
also suggested. Likewise further improvement in the canteen facilities like provision of additional chairs
and tables especially in the Stella Maris building is also suggested as raised by most of the respondents
occupying in the said building.
