Robots - Pencils - Reese Panos
sources) and what/where are real life scenarios wherein the robotic
revolution may be already taking place?
The robotic evolution is occurring because robots are starting to perform tasks that
humans are used to such as low-skilled jobs. These are smaller jobs in factories but
also bigger jobs in hospitals. Robots are able to do these jobs at a better pace and
without mistakes. They can do work that humans can’t do. For instance they can work
a lot longer on a factory line than a human. They don’t need food, water, or rest like a
human does. They can help with all sorts of things such as cleaning up in a store to
physical therapy a human may need. They are able to do repetitive jobs that may be
dangerous for a human as well such as jobs in the military or underwater. They also
can replace a limb that is lost by a human so they are able to walk or use their arm/hand
again.
No, robots should not take over the human species because there are things
robots can’t do that humans need. In order to thrive humans need things
such as physical touch, empathy from others, and acceptance. Humans
need to feel and have connections with other humans and that is something
robots can’t give. Robots can take over the dangerous, boring, and jobs that
human error can’t happen but they can’t take over the feelings given from
one human to another.
