o GOAL: (RHETORICAL KNOWLEDGE) I would like to learn how to
organize my thoughts and other sources of information with
technology

technology for specific audiences
o GOAL (KNOWLEDGE OF CONVENTIONS): Learn how to write
and format in multiple genres & obtain a better understanding of
copyright laws.

Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing


o Use information, writing, and reading for inquiry, learning,
thinking, and communicating

 Social Nature of the internet allows communities to connect
and grow by sharing knowledge, ideas, goals and opinions
 The public domain allows the sharing of information and
ideas that are produced worldwide. This ensures access to
shared culture and knowledge.
o Integrate previously held beliefs, assumptions, and knowledge with
new information and the ideas of others to accomplish a specific
purpose within a context

o Virtual Communities: personal and political blogging, social
networks, community based websites allow us to gain knowledge
from each other by collaborating ideas and get the big picture.

Processes
o GOAL: Distinguish how to use appropriate technology for specific

complete a successful text

o Copyright = all rights reserved, protects copyright owners, notifies
public of their ownership. -In affect moment they are created.
-Must ask permission to use work from owner.
o Fair use = the right to use copyrighted material without
permission or payment under certain circumstances. -To be
justified as fair, the social or cultural benefits must outweigh the
cost of the copyright owner.
o Creative Commons (cc) = free copyright license; specifies the parts
of your copyright you are willing to share with the public. Refines
your copyright. Allows for collaboration.
o Public Domain = commons of info where nothing is owned and all
is permited
