Journalism Education

Looking at it through that wages and working conditions are said to be predictors of
unethical practices within and by journalists, thus industry-centered journalism education is
undoubtedly present in the country. Educators of journalism must've been teaching their
students the standard norms in industries to prevent those foundations of unprincipled manners
of journalists and as it was mentioned, not to be a functioning critic of the industry. The unethical
practices within the journalism premises are barely an effect of an absence of industry-centered
perspective.

As an outcome of the pandemic, there is an evident rise of struggles within different

industries. The field of journalism is no stranger to that alter, particularly the unideal environment
due to limitations to their works in obeying health protocols. Setbacks have caused yet another
fear to journalists, other than specifically the "culture of impunity", the possible contracting of the
virus. These facts contribute to a deluge of reasons why an industry-centered perspective being
taught to students is useful or hostile in some ways.

Personally, I can say it is true that journalism studies and research are very occasional,
considering that there are fewer students in Journalism compared to other courses. That is most
probably a cause of the far apart number of demands in employment when it comes to
journalism and the higher percentage of employment in other fields. Not forgetting that
journalism is a risky job to some extent that the Philippines is labeled as the second most
dangerous place for journalists.

Although the presence of an industry-centered perspective in the field of journalism,

possibly in other fields in the media landscape too, due to rising injustices in the country,
passion is still the most dominant feature in journalism education—as well as the strong belief in
giving truth and fairness. Therefore, I do agree with the conclusion and have shared some
complementary points.
