Licks

What is the concept behind the Licks ?

So, in order to not get bored practicing, I found out that I could play small grooves that I
would repeat for a few bars and then play a lick.

That way, with a small exercise I can practice all at once: Groove, (different genres such as
Funk, R’n’b, Rock etc…). Time, Technique (Slap, Tapping etc…).

To allow all levels of players to use the Licks I usually play them in x3 different tempos, such
as:

80 Bpm: Beginner

100 Bpm: Intermediate

120 Bpm: Advanced

NB: Keep in mind that the goal is not to play fast but to always be comfortable, to groove
and to articulate all the notes.

Bass Lessons

They are usually based on a specific topic (example: Slap, Arpeggio etc…).

In the first part of the video I’m explaining.

In the second part of the video I’m showing a groove/riff that applies the new lesson.

At the end of the video we play along with drums and the TABS/notations.

Covers

Find in those videos your favorite bass lines, grooves, riffs from your favorite tunes
explained in details with TABS/notations in all kinds of genre (Funk, Rock, R’n’b, Reggae,
Jazz…).

Get Funky

I started the Get Funky Series after a growing demand for TABS on the funk grooves I
posted on social media. They are usually technical and fast. Also, I usually use different
techniques such as ghost notes, slap, tapping, arpeggio…

Etudes

Etudes are dedicated to technique and theory. The main goal is to improve your dexterity
and coordination (fretting and plucking hands), and your musical knowledge (through
arpeggio, chords etc…).

How to make the most out of the Patreon

page ?

To take the most out of the BassLicks content, I recommend you to practice one topic at a
time.

There is a lot of topics and content, and you might loose time and energy trying to work on
"everything"all at once.

Let’s say you want to improve your Slap technique, choose one bass lesson and one lick
about Slap for the day.

Start with the bass lesson and then keep practicing with a lick.

Remember to always start practicing really slow. You will improve twice as fast ;)

Also, I would recommend you to print all the content you’re working on and to put together
a file with everything.

It will allow you to keep track on what you already have done.

If you have special request, feel free to contact me, I’ll add it on the list!!! ;)

Once again, THANK YOU!!!

and WELCOME to the "BassLicks family"

Practice and Have Fun!!! 🎸🤟
