Artifact
Title of Artifact: Ethics Assignment
This assignment allowed a small group to work together to review a case dealing with
ethics. After reading a certain situation we reviewed the Iowa Board of Educational
Examiners Code of ethics document and chose which code of ethics this situation would
be breaking. I discussed the group about why the situation would or would not break any
codes. I explained what could happen if these codes were broke. I also assessed the
situation presented and came up with ways this could affect the student if the codes were
to be broken. After reading through a lot of the codes and conversing with others I am
able to better understand InTASC Standard #9, Course Competency #4.2, and Essential
Learning Outcome #4 Problem Solving.

Reflection:
After completing this assignment and reading the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners
Code of Ethics, it is clear to me that situations will arise where I will need to be careful
while teaching. Some situations are clear and would-be breaking code of ethics no doubt.
Other situations will more complicated and a teacher might not know if they are breaking
any codes. I will need to always understand what I can and cannot do as a teacher, for
myself and for my students.
