New restaurant opens on the campus of Butler University

Butler alums and students launch Blue Dawg Diner Oct. 30

INDIANAPOLIS- Blue Dawg Diner invites the community and costumes to its grand opening event on
Saturday, Oct 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the block of Sunset Avenue. The diner will serve favorites for
breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as late night snacks. Guests will get the chance to sample the menu,
including special hot “dawg,” cheese fries, salads and a selection of made-from-scratch pies.

Blue Dawg Diner owners’ Terrence and Simone Paul have partnered with Butler students who expressed
interest in gaining hands-on experience launching and managing the restaurant. Butler students helped
create the Butler-themed decor, plan the menu, order supplies and, eventually, generate profits.

“As former students who benefited from Butler’s hands-on approach to learning, we wanted to give
current students access to real-world management experience,” said Simone Paul, diner co-owner.
Owners will donate a portion of the proceeds to Butler student travel scholarships.

Genevieve Harvey, a current junior Butler student said, “Everything about this partnership is incredible,
and many universities do not have anything quite like it. Not only am I excited to finally have another
restaurant on Butler’s campus, but we as students are gaining top notch experience.”

In attendance will be Butler’s bulldog mascot Blue, President Danko and more notable Butler alumni like
race car driver Ted Barber. Customers are encouraged to bring their dogs to the dog-friendly outdoor
seating area. A timeline of events can be found on the company’s website at www.bluedawgdiner.com

About the company

In June 2019, married Butler alums Terrence and Simone Paul launched Blue Dawg Diner. Coming with
extensive restaurant experience, the two welcomed the chance to open a place on campus that could
serve the Butler campus and neighboring community with healthy, made-from-scratch diner favorites
for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In keeping with Butler’s commitment to experiential learning, the
owners partnered with students to launch and run the restaurant. A portion of the proceeds will
support Butler student travel scholarships.
