Articles and Plural
Formation
This selection discusses how to form the plural in English
and articles.
#1. Articles and examples
Articles are words that precede nouns,
indicating their gender and number.
Indeterminate articles:

-A -AN

Determinate articles:

-The

She has an apple and a banana.


The baby is criying in his room.
#2. Plural formation
-The English plural is usually formed with a
single “s”.
EXAMPLE:
One book – two books / one car – two cars.

There are some exceptions:

-If the word ends with “sh”, “ch”, “s”, “x” or “z”, we add “es”.
Example: One box- two boxes.
-If the word ends with “consonant + y”, we usually change the “y” to
an “I” and add “es”. Example:
One baby – two babies

Adjectives
This selection discusses what adjectives are and how to
use them.
#1. Adjectives
Adjectives are those words that join a name
to broaden, complement and quatify its
meaning.
-English adjectives are invariants in gender
and number. Example: Yelow = Amarillo,
amarilla, amarillos, amarillas in Spanish.

-They are usually placed in front of the


noun:
I have a big book.
