Artifact
Title of Artifact: Ethics Assignment
For this artifact I was assigned an ethical dilemma to review. The case which I was
assigned to review was about a divorced parent without custody requesting information
about their child from the teacher. From the situation at hand, I had to determine which
codes of ethics could be violated. I now have a better understanding of the Iowa Board of
Educational Examiners Code of Ethics. This artifact fulfilled the InTASC Standard #9
Professional Learning and Ethical Practice, Course Competency #4.2, and Essential
Learning Outcome #4.
Reflection:
From completing this artifact, I have gained a better understanding of the Iowa Board of
Educational Examiners Code of Ethics and how to avoid violating any of the codes. The
dilemmas that were presented in this assignment availed to me that these occurrences can
happen a lot more than what I had thought previously. There are a lot of ways that an
educator can violate the Code of Ethics. That is why it is all the more important to be
well educated on them. This artifact was a good way to exemplify the necessity of the
Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Code of Ethics.
