List the characters in the story and what was their role in the story
● Remi: young boy found abandoned
● Vitalis: a street performer
● Mrs. Baraberin: wife of Jerome Baraberin
● Jerome Baraberin: adoptive father of Rémi

In a paragraph, describe the main things that happened in the story

Rémi is an orphan and he is the main character of the novel. He was brought up by his
foster mother Barberin. Unfortunately, when he turned 10, his adoptive father sold him to
Vitalis, a roaming street artist, and he joined their street tour with another monkey named
Joli-Cœur and a dog named Capi. Vitalis purchased some new clothes for Rémi, taught him
how to write and sing, to perform and earn money. Their small troupe roamed on the roads
of France. Later, Vitas got sick and died in the cold winter. Rémi still continued his journey
and finally, he found his real mother in a noble family in England. The downsides of society
gradually emerged amid the luxury of France, such as the child labor was overused, the
slave class was badly trampled, and some people were making money against all odds,..
There are lots of practical and deeply meaningful lessons integrated throughout the journey.

Use a diagram or graphic organizer to explain the characters in a story

In a paragraph, tell why you think the author wrote this book.
Nobody’s Boy is a famous book written by Hector Malot - a French writer. In his life Malot
wrote over 70 books. By far his most famous book is Sans Famille (Nobody's Boy), which
describes the travels of the young orphan Remi, who is sold to a street musician Vitalis at
the age of 10. Sans Famille is popular with children and successful because of its interesting
plot twist. From my perspective, the reason why Hector Malot wrote this book is that he
wanted to offer a special piece of work to the children during his literary life.

In a paragraph, explain why the book has that title.

Nobody;s boy or Sans famille is the wonderfully moving story of an orphan who hopes to one
day find his true family. There are many interesting subplots as well about the general
condition of orphan children throughout 19th France, very much like Dickens revealed similar
mistreatment of youth through his highly critical and scrutinizing enlightenment. For that, this
book has it’s appealing title.

Describe the overall mood of the book and list facts to support your
mood.
This book gave me so many feelings, like I actually cried over a book for the first time. The
adventure, the hardship, the twist and turns, you just gotta love them all. It is the best one I
read and it's only the first in the new year.

Take notes on your favorite chapter or character.

I think the most favorite character of the whole story is the main character – Remi. He had to
live and work through a life of hardship. but did not change his human dignity, which
included uprightness, bravery, self-esteem, honesty.

III. APPLYING
Write what you learned from the story and how you can use it in your
life.
This story is appealing not only because of Remi’s hustle life but also the humanistic lesson,
which encourages independence, confidence and sincerity. Additionally, the story teaches
me about the importance of family

Compare and contrast two characters. Be sure that you tell them about
their actions, words, thoughts, and feelings, not just physical
descriptions!
Remi is a great main character for kids to mirror. He has a warm heart and a strong
determination on his goals, he knows what is the right thing or more accurately his
responsibilities in different circumstances. Even though not any kid could be as good like
Remi, he acts as the motivation for kids to learn from. In contrast, his adoptive father, who
Barberin sells Remi to a traveling artist, lead a life full of sorrow and unhappiness because of his
cruelty.

Write a letter to the author of your book, telling the author how the book
affected and influenced you.
Dear Hector Malot,
My favorite childhood book, You has a particular style of portraying the characters in a soft light
and humanizing even the animals (Capi was my favorite dog character). It is definitely a book
about coming of age, facing adversity, focusing on the positive aspects of life and on the
relationships that make me human and in the end are what mold myself.
Nobody's boy is a beautiful story and I read it many times. The book is a great story about Remi -
an orphan andt fortunately for him he does encounter many people who help him, sometimes for
a short while, but often for a longer period of time. And this time I also saw how much love you
used to write this book and how hard you tried to make the characters real. Remi is neither a
selfish brat nor a sickly-sweet orphan, he is a real boy and as life-like as can be, and this is the
case for most of the characters.
When I was a child, I had to cry every time Vitalis died, and I could not hold my tears this time as
well. In just a few scenes Hector Malot manages to give us some idea of the background story of
this man, who has such a good heart and who died in such tragic circumstances. I also adored
the dog Capi again, he made me realize the importance of friendship in life. And when Remi finds
his family again and finds where he belongs, you will be relieved, all is well in the last chapter.

IV. ANALYZING
Create an advertisement for this book.
Sans Famille is the best book I've ever read.
It makes me forever stuck in love with the book. The book reminds me of many things about
fidelity, courage, love for labor, love for art, respect for dignity and honor, and being ready to help
people. I would like anyone to enjoy this book.I remember the time I cried so much for Remi, for
his teacher, for everyone loving and expecting his return. I remember how much I loathed the
evils manifested in some people while looking back, I know it was nothing compared to the real
world. This book witnessed my change, my journey to adulthood. Besides, this book is a thrilling
story about an adventure of the boy to find a true family and work for life. Strong energy, pure
soul and love for animals. Although he has many difficulties, in the end everything's good for him.

Explain and justify the relationship between two or more characters.

Remi, who had lost all of his relatives when he was a baby. However, after a few years living with
a kind-hearted woman, he had to follow a small troupe led by a man called Vitali and went to all
regions in France to perform. And after the death of his old leader, while going around the
country with the troupe, he suddenly found his lost family and lived happily ever after.
Vitali – a moral leader died, he had to get a living on his own and also ensured the performances
and the lives of the members in the street troupe. They had to manage to survive many times
after severe hunger and cold. However, in every circumstance, Remi still listened to Vitali’s
advice and did not change his human dignity, which included uprightness, bravery, self-esteem,
honesty.

Write about one of the character’s lives twenty years from now. Be sure
to explain how the events from the book helped shape them into the
person they are now.
I am proud and happy of the friendship between Mattia and Remi and his triumphant return. And
Remi, after he found his true family, he might lead a wealthy and happy life but his warm heart
would stimulate him to help the orphan and the poor. After twenty years, he would be an adult
who is well-educated, he would definitely build an orphanage in order that he could save many
lives and offer them a good educational system. Due to his harsh experience during his
childhood, Remi is willing to do charity, sponsor for disabled and children in difficulties. He
thoroughly understands the meaning of life and he would not be cruel and greedy to everyone.

EVALUATING
Decide what other book that you’ve read that is similar to this one and
explain why.
I’ve read Nobody's Girl by the author Hector Malot and I suggest it as one of the most
unputdownable books that is similar to the book Nobody’s boy for many reasons.
I read "Nobody's Girl" manh times times, as I was captivated by the girl's living independently
and her goal of helping other girls. Only a few years ago I learned that the book I had so adored
had been preceded by a story about a boy.
Life in France during or pre the industrial revolution was particularly tough when no social safety
net was offered for people down on their luck and children could be sold to masters. In this story,
the boy has no control over his life, and his journey takes him through interesting characters and
life's lessons. His main desire is to have a family, but when it is offered to him when he is about
10 years old by a woman with a disabled son, he makes the poor decision to move on. That
makes the story stilted, as are other twists of the story.
