So, with that out of the way, let me get one other thing straight. This is an editorial review of demo tapes and TI am going to write what I honestly think of the music. Now, if some of you people out there disagree with what I say or on some of my comments on the demos, Fine. You have your opinion on it, but I also have my opinion. So , do not write me and bitch and moan about how I suck as a metel music reviewer. I hope everyone who reads this will write me al the below address and honestiy tell me what they think cf my work and how L could better it ( de not get to carried away ). THRASH TILL DEATH AND THEN SOMz! td L da MICHAEL J, MOSLEY s 32579 Rotting Corpse oa Shalimar ,L 7 ROTTING CORPSE / " '86 DEMO © The rotting ones , as they are called , hail from the great state of Texas , where most of the real metal is rumored to come from. This heavy , power metal band have been together solidly since January of '86 when Walt Thrachler and John Perez , both members of the band , formed the concept of " Rotting Corpse he current members ot R.C. are , Jim Mulqueen (vocals), Walt Thrachler (rhythm guitar), John Perez (1ead guitar}, Randy Cook (bass), Dave Gryder (drums, may have been replaced as of this date).The demo is excellent and a fine example of Texas thrash. The three trax eff the demo are "Rotting Corpse, War on drugs, and Svil Slaughter." My fevorate cut from the demo is "War on drugs" which can be described as an anti érug song, but this does not mean that the group is some bleeding heart bunch of softies. HELL NO! These guys can still kick ass as much as the next band (if not better). I'm waiting! ne /WAIAS / “Outcast of Society" demo This punk/metal band with the controversial name " NATAS" (read it backwards, wow!) are some sesious Lhrashers whe can not be taken lightly. With the simple although effective music that makes up their demo, they have made their mark upon the Death/ Thrash scene. Another thing about "NATAS" is that even though the music is strong , the guitar leads are weak, but as vocalist/guitarist Scott ( none of the band mew~ bers seem to have last names ) puta it * Yon can't thrash to some guy soloing his balls off!" How's that for total dedication to tarash? The other two enigmas that make up "NATAS" are; Dave/bass and Bruce/drums. Not much is known about these guys L'1l keep you posted! The demo which contains the already infamous classics "Fuck Your Neighbor", and "No Balls , No Brains” is available tor $5.00 by writing; NAIA 37 Tremont. Fox Lake, ILL 60020. Their debut album entitled "Think What You Want" schaduled for an early '87 release and it will be more in the Death metal vein until then , I wish "NATAS" all the best of luck!QUICKCHANDE /QUICKCHANGE/ “American Demo" Every long while , the metal scene is abtacked by @ totally new and fresh type of metal music. That time has arrived and so has the [illinois based quintet: , the creators of their so called "crunch 'n metal. Don't get turned off by their name , these people can play! Their "American Demo" is currentiy getting airplay in Pra where they reign as the number eight band. Pretty impressive , huh? The members are as follows? Dwayne Whitehead/voices , Dubs Anderson/quitar , Mike MeCarthy/guitar , Mike Saint/bass , John Kruczek/deuns. These talanted guys appear to be influenced vocally by Geoff Tate of 'QUEENSRYCHE’ bu: musically , they seem very origional. Their demo is a highly professivnal sounding piece of work and it is one of the best quality demos around. With songs like "Heads Will Roll” , "Final Stand" , and “Wargames” , I don't know how any serious metalist will not at least give them a hance to prove themselves. SAVAGE STEEL /SAVAGE STEBL/ This four piece band is from Torente , Canada , and they qo to prove wrong the myth thal Canadian metal sucks ( as we have seen with VOT VoD ). T was sent two cuts off of their debut aibum "Begins With A Nightmare" (released on Jan. 30, '87), from their manager "DIEGO". The two tracks, "Hit From The Rear" and “Nightprowler* have got to be the best off the album because nothing (NOTHING) can get better than these two. They will give you a fucking seizure they thrash so bad!! T'm sorcy that T don't have any of the names of tne band members but all you need to remember is the name , SAVAGE STEEL. The band is heavily influenced by METALLICA and MERCYFUL FATS and the music is amazingly original. The album will be marketed on the New Renaissence label and distributed by Important records. The group plans to tour the U.S. with some dates in Florida , I will keep ya'll notifies of further info. This sel financed 4 song EP may be a disappointment to the serious thrasher but may be just the thing for the ones who appreciate excellent party metal( I don't mean tis as derogatory , Dave]. With moving acoustical guitar pieces to straight forward metal licks, this is one of the better of the upcoming metal acts(excludin Death/Speed/Thrasi metal). Jeff Nagel on guitar , Dave Belanger on bass and vocals an@ Doug King on drums. As mach as I loved this album , I have to say thal Dave could stand to smooth out the choruses vocally. Jest can jam with tne best of them. I loved the seemingly walls of sound that he produced from his axe. Ditto for Dave. A follow up demo is in the vorks. "Spoiled Rotten" KICKS ASS!!!
