Dear Ms. Mcnair,

I am your student named Miguel Hernandez inside of your first block. I will always be quiet
inside of your class all the time. It is not that I choose to be, it is that my friends are not in this
class, so I got no choice but to be quiet. Some of my strengths are that I get my work done and
that I am a fast learner when I put my mind into it. One weakness that I consider my biggest
weakness is that I doze off in the middle of class easily or you can say I get distracted easily.
Well, you can say my home life is very lively. Everyone in the family has their own unique
personality so you can tell who is easily. Everyone loves each other, even though they go head-
to-head with each other every other day. Thankfully, I live with both parents, and I also have
three other siblings. Most of the time we speak Spanish but, on some occasions, we speak
English. I have a dog and a cat; the dog is a chihuahua named Taco. He is mostly sleeping and
being lazy, but he is so lovable. The cat’s name is “Bonita” which is Spanish for cutie. She is still
noticeably young, but she is so playful, and she always wants to cuddle. I have only lived outside
of the country for a short amount of time, but it was in Mexico. I was living there for about five
months, but it felt like years.
The hobby I have been interested in for quite for a while now is Boxing. I have been boxing for
over 2 years now and I am excited for what comes for it in the near future. I have never been so
passionate about something like boxing more than anything else. The only thing I have in my
mind is Boxing, nothing else. I just want to be the absolute best this world has ever seen. I want
to be generational, worldwide, and to be remembered. That is why I work hard every day to get
what I want, with some rest days of course.
The experience I had for my past English classes have gone quite well. I always finished my
work on time and turned it in. I loved every single part of writing and typing out my essay. I just
get to express myself onto the paper with my pencil, I can go on and on. My ninth-grade
literature class was like a blur to me. I can hardly remember that class because of how the years
built up on how long I was in high school. One thing I do not like about English, is reading. It
always bores me when I read, and I never liked it.
Heroism in my culture is often viewed as having courage and representing the country you came
from. For example, Canelo Alvarez. He has always been a hero for us people in the Mexico
community. No matter what he does he represents us and gives back to the community.
Cowardice in my culture is often viewed as a sign as weakness, a person who is a person who is
often laughed at and is joked about. A time when I was challenged to be brave was when I had to
get in the boxing ring. I was scared to do it, but I overcame it and left my comfort zone.
You have now got to know me as a student and a person. I hope I get to know you as a teacher
and a person. I expect to have a good semester with this class and nothing less. May your
teaching get us far in life. I also hope you have a wonderful time for this class.
