The shutoff flap for infiltrated air provides for pressure equalization during conveyance. In addition, air
can flow in when the loading device is lowered and flow out when it is raised.

E.3 Checking correct installation

Check correct position according to plant drawing.

E.4 Functional test

Check the electric winch for correct direction of rotation. Moreover, the stroke limiter and the slack
rope switch must be correctly adjusted and/or checked for correct adjustment (see documentation for
the electric winch).
Adjust the upper stroke limit so that the desired passage height is reached.
The lower stroke limit must be adjusted so that the sealing cone does not open when the loading
device is fully extended.
The slack rope switch must be adjusted so that the sealing cone fully opens and the rope is just
slackened when the lower chute head is put on.
The functional test also includes testing of the connected exhaust air system with presetting of the
underpressure in the loading device.
If the underpressure is too high (distortion of the hose) open the infiltrated air flap completely and
throttle pre-connected shutoff flaps in the exhaust air line.
If the underpressure is too low (no draft at the opening of the infiltrated air flap) inspect the exhaust air
system (e.g. shutoff flaps closed) and/or check it for inrush of air.
The correct program linkages must be checked (e.g. loading may only be started when the slack rope
switch has responded).
The function of the filling level indicator must be checked.Stop the rotating filling level indicators by
hand. Then they must release. The capcitive filling level indicators must release after touching.

E.5 First Start-up

Special care must be taken that the lower chute head rests uniformly on the filling socket of the silo
vehicle.
No dust must escape from the filling socket during filling. If any dust escapes the reduced underpressure
must be increased again by throttling the shutoff flaps and/or the infiltrated air flap. The hose must,
however, not be distorted.

E.6 Start-up after short standstill

There are no special points to be observed.

E.7 Start-up after longer standstill

It is advisable to clean the sealing cone and the filling level indicator from material baked on.

E.8 Normal operation

Normal operation is prescribed by program.

The details in this document are accepted by the employers liability insurance company, according
to FEM group II respectively gear group 2 m according to DIN 15 020 (FEM = European Association
for Materials-handling Technology)

D.1 Mechanical connection

Electric winches can be installed upright on the floor, mounted to the wall with one side (drum axle
horizontal) or suspended from the ceiling. The supporting surface shall be absolutely plane to en-
sure that all legs of the winch are on one level. Where necessary undulations in the supporting
surface will be compensated by shims which have to be fixed absolutely without any inherent ten-
sion.
The winches are to be fixed to the base with screws M 12 of the Quality Class 8.8 secured against
slackening off. The screws shall be evenly tightened. The essential screws for floor, wall and ceiling
mounting are to be furnished locally by the customer.

D.2 Electrical connection

Equipment of the standard design of electric winches encompasses the integral brake motor de-
signed for an intermittent duty of 40 per cent and for 120 switching cycles per hour. These values
may be exceeded over short period with a still cold motor. Where there is a hazard of exceeding the
intermittent duty, resource should be taken to built-in motors with thermal motor winding protection
or thermistor protection for a sensitive switching-off via a tripping device. Prior to connecting the
winch, the available mains voltage should be checked for compliance with that on the type label.

D.2.1 Wiring

TThe electrical wiring between motor, reversing contactors and such components as lift limitation,
slack rope switch, electrical interlocking at operation with reserve hand drive and optional drum
free-wheeling etc. have been established ex factory. The limit switches for the interlocking of the
motor drive have been wired on terminal boards if the units are supplied without integral reversing
contactors.
The main supply cable of electric winches with reversing contactors has to be provided with fuses
and a main switch. Main switch and fuses can be dispensed with if resource is taken to a manually
operated motor protection switch with magnetically quick-release.
The electrical equipment within the winches is connected in accordance with the wiring diagram:

A - lift limitation (tow position switches PRSL0036XX)

B - slack rope switch (one position switch Z4K 236-11z)

The connection terminals for the built-in brake motor of the basic design are located in the brake
bearing plate and are protected by a round sheetmetal cover of its own. To be connected according
to the appended wiring diagram. For this purpose the dummy plug is to be removed and replaced by
the Pg screw joint furnished.
The cable cross-sections can be obtained from the pertinent wiring diagram.
Control elements such as suspended respectively wall-mounted pushbutton are to be connected to
the jack terminal board at connection points 1 to 4.
Power supply consists of the three conductors L1, L2, L3, the neutral conductor N and the grounding
conductor PE; to be connected to the terminal board at the specially coded points.
Terminals 23 and 24 must be bridged or connected to the auxiliary contacts of the reversing starters
(make contacts) prior to start the winch. Otherwise, the motor works against the engaged brake.
When terminals 23 and 24 are single bridged the brake engages with a time delay; the stopping
distance increases essentially and the load can slip.

D.2.2 Verification of the sense of direction

After actuation of the main switch, the pushbutton “Up” is to be pressed on the control panel. The
contactor with the legend “Up” should now react. Two lines of the control system have been mis-
takenly interchanged if the contactor “Down” reacts. The lines of connection points 1 and 3 will have

to be interchanged.
If the contactor “Up” reacts to the actuation of the pushbutton “Up”, it will have to be verified that the
rope drum moves in the specified sense of direction (ref. to Fig. 1). The winch shall be instantly
inactivated if the drum moves in a reverse direction:
nstant inactivation is accomplished by releasing the pushbutton in the case of “dead man” control. In
the case of program-controlled winches, pushbuttons “Stop” respectively “O” have to be actuated for
this purpose. Sense of direction is reversed by reconnection of the two main power conductors on
the terminal board.

Attention
If these instructions are not complied with, electric winches with
lift limitation will be switched off even though the sense of direc-
tion is incorrect (emergency cutout). The winches can then nei-
ther be switched to “Up” or “Down” with the appropriate
pushbuttons. This situation can only be remedied by exchanging
the phases of the two main current supply cables. It is, moreover,
necessary to shift the stop dog in contact with the limit switch by
approx. 3 mm. Only now the electric winches can be moved from
the emergency cutout position. The lift limitation will then have to
be readjusted.

E Operating instruction
E.1 Winding-up the rope

Care must be taken to ensure that the rope is evenly wound around the drum. If a rope pulley is to
be placed ahead of the drum it must be centred so that the wire rope is wound over the fully width
of the drum. The minimum distance is given for The fixing screws have to be slackened off for the
fastening of the wire rope. Subsequently the wire rope is inserted between flanged wheel wall and
the clamping element on the drum circumference. The rope is 1,50 m.
If only a partial drum width is required for the winding of the rope, the rope pulley may also be
placed closer to the drum. The lateral deviation may, according to DIN 15020, Sheet 1, in no
instance exceed 1:15 (4°). A rope winding-on device is recommended if ropes are to be tidily
wound around drums in several layers.

E.2 Wire rope coiling

On hoisting (winding up of the wire rope) the winch should be turned in direction of the arrow if
looking at the drive bearing plate.
Wire ropes can be wound onto the drum from all directions, as depicted on the picture:

E.3 Fixing of the wire rope

Always use a wire rope of the same quality. The wire rope shall be tidily coiled up; there should be
no buckling, twisting or loops and staining should be avoided.
Prior to cutting the wire rope off, the end should be tightly wound with thin steel wire. The rope end
is fixed to the flanged wheel of the winch drum (as shown on the picture) with one clamp (two
clamps if operations are carried out with two ropes):

The fixing screws have to be slackened off for the fastening of the wire rope. Subsequently the
wire rope is inserted between flanged wheel wall and the clamping element on the drum circumfer-
ence. The rope shall project for: a = 10 cm and is then bent around the hexagon screw of the
clamping element in an opposite direction until it is fully gripped by the top groove of the clamping
element. The hexagon socket screws shall then be properly tightened again.
The rope used has to be long enough so that it is still wound in two reserve coils around the drum
with the load in the bottom-most position. With the fully length of rope wound up, the flanged wheel
must still project by 1.5 times the rope diameter over the last layer.

E.4 Built-in, adjustable lift limitation

The built-in lift limitation is exposed after removing the cover sheet of the brake bearing plate:

The stop dogs on the control spindle-on the right for the top and on the left for the bottom limit
have been set ex-work to approx. the centre of the control spindle.
The lift limitation is set to the bottom and top switch-off position in that the “Down” pushbutton is
actuated until the bottom switch-off point is contacted. During the lowering procedure both of the
stop dogs are moved to the right. It must, during this procedure, be ensured that the right-hand
stop dog does not become detached from the control spindle.
Now slacken the screw of the left stop dog and turn the stop dog with the knurled nut towards the
limit switch until the switch reacts. Check the switch-off accuracy by once again approaching the
bottom position.
By actuating the “Up” pushbutton the load is brought to its top position; slacken the screw of the
right-hand stop dog and turn same towards the limit switch until the switch reacts. Verify switch-off
accuracy by repeatedly approaching top and bottom limit position. Stop dogs are then tightened
again.

E.5 Electric winches with slack rope switch

This switch has been allotted the task of switching the winch off via the limit switch within the box
if the rope is slackened. The stop dog on the shaft in the slack rope switch box can be readjusted
so that it reacts to a rope being more or less slack.
The slack rope switch is fitted onto the floor for horizontal rope-departure in the following way:

F Maintenance Instruction

Important
Any testing and maintenance work must be executed by reliable
personnel only.

Each winch is prior to leaving the factory thoroughly tested on the test stand and exposed to a trial
run at 25 per cent overload.
According to the safety regulations VBG 8: “… winches shall be at least once annually tested by a
qualified person. They shall also in between these annual inspections be tested by an expert in
accordance with their specific utilization and local operating conditions”.

F.1 Usable service life of wire ropes according to DIN 15 020, Sheet 2

On inspection of a wire rope special attention shall be paid to those parts of the rope which are
passed over the rope pulleys and those close by the rope fixing elements.
The wire rope has to be invariably replaced if:
- several wires are fractured in one place or if one of the strands is fractured;
- the rope diameter has been reduced by 10 per cent due to corrosion or wear-even though wire
fractures cannot be ascertained;
- the rope diameter has, over extended lengths, been reduced by 15 per cent due to structural
changes;
- nests are formed, individual wires form loops, knots, constrictions, bucklings, or other me-
chanical faults of considerable consequence.

F.2 Lubrication

The electric winches are in almost all of the relevant parts ”life-service” lubricated. Attention shall be
merely paid to the grease. nipples with red protection cap. For selection of the grease grades and
their characteristics refer to the table. The oil charge of the planetary gearing shall only be renewed
after repairs have been carried out.
A special grease for long-term lubrication is recommended for the drum bearing system with cylin-
der rolls.

Attention
Electrical winches shall not be kept in storage with a vertical drum
axle nor transported in this position as the oil charge of the plan-
etary gearing is thus prevented from being spilled.

The positions named in the table refer to the drawing on the following page.

F.3 Replacement of a complete built-in brake motor

Power supply to the winch is to be interrupted

by actuation of the main switch respectively
by switching the manually operated motor pro-
tection switch.
Cover (1) is to be detached from the brake
bearing plate. Main current and supply of con-
trol current are to be interrupted. Assembly
plate with three-phase contactors is to be dis-
mantled after the connection between motor
and contactors has been disassembled.
In the case of winches with built-in lift limita-
tion (2), the brake release device etc. have to
be removed initially.
Fixing screws (3) are to be unscrewed. Two of
these screws shall then be inserted as pulling-
off screws into the threaded bores on the flange
of the brake casing (4) and allotted especially to this task.
By a uniform tightening of the pulling-off screws the brake casing (4) together with the brake motor
is extracted from the winch. Built-in motor to be mounted in by taking these steps conversely.

F.4 Readjustment of the brake

Attention
Work shall only be carried out on the brake if no weight is sus-
pended from the hoist. Power supply for the winch shall be inter-
rupted.

Brake linings are by their nature subject to wear; a readjustment of the brakes is thus at times inevi-
table. A precise timing cannot be given for this chore as the brake wear is dependent on such vari-
ables as type of load, number of switching cycles, type and model of the winch etc. Generally read-
justments become acute if braking does no longer function
correctly, i.e. if the load continues slipping after the brake
is applied.
Motor and brake form a compact unit.
For adjusting the brake it is necessary to remove first the
motor from the winch (refer to Section F.3).
This operation is commenced by extracting the stator (11)
with winding from the brake casing (4) after slackening
the threaded pins (10) off.
Subsequently the air gap (6) between the magnetic rotor
and the magnetic armature (0.4 - 0.6 mm) has to be
checked.
If the value is greater, the brake has to be readjusted as
otherwise a hazard of a collapsing brake cannot be excluded.

Readjustment of the brake:

- lock ring (12) is to be removed;
- magnetic rotor (7) with brake part (13) to be dismantled from the brake casing (4), inside of the
brake casing (4) to be cleaned from brake swarf;
- lock ring (14) to be removed;
- brake part (13) with spacer rings (15) to be extracted from magnetic keeper (8);
- depending on the wear of the brake lining (5) an appropriate number of spacer rings (15) are

placed on the hub of the magnet keeper until the air gap (6) has attained the value
- brake part (13) is now placed on the hub of the magnetic keeper (8);
- the still available spacer rings (15) are also placed on the hub of the magnetic keeper (8), all
of the parts are then secured with the lock ring (14);
- further reassembly in a converse order;
- motor to be installed in a converse order (refer to Section 4.2).

If the measures taken proof to be inadequate, i.e. if the wear of the brake lining is excessive, it will
be necessary to renew the lining. A new brake part will have to be ordered and installed.

F.5 Lift limitation

All of the lift limit switches are to be inspected at the specified maintenance intervals; they should
then be checked for proper function and secure seat. The control spindles resp. drive spindles and
guide rods should be slightly lubricated with Molycote grease.

F.6 Slack rope switch

As bearings for the slack rope switch and the roller lever are used self-lubricating bearings which
require no servicing.

B Technical Data
B.1 Specification
The level limit switch is installed in the lower chute head of a loading device. It is inserted into the vehicle
to be loaded during the loading process, and switches when the vehicle is completely filled.

B.2 Description

The level limit switch consists of the vibronic fork (1), the process connection (2) and the housing (3) with
electronic insert.
A piezoelectric drive excites the vibronic fork to its resonant frequency. When a medium covers the vibronic
fork, the oscillation amplitude changes (oscillation is attenuated). The electronic system compares the
actual amplitude with a setpoint and indicates whether the vibronic fork oscillates unimpeded or is covered
by the medium.
