Hi! My name is Julia. I am from Moscow, Russia. I like


creating different characters and bringing them to life

Materials needed:
1. YarnArt Jeans, 55% cotton, 45% acryl, 50g/160m, next
colors:

• for body – red № 51, white № 62, pink № 36


• for hat – white № 62
• for nose - beige № 07

2. Some semi-wool or acrylic yarn of any thickness for


beard.
3. Crochet hook 2 mm or 2.25 mm (US: B, UK:14)
4. Holofiber, thick sewing needle, pins.
5. Piece of cardboard 4 on 4 inch for gnome’s base.

If you follow this advice your gnome will be 15 cm.

Yarn tip: cotton/acryl or cotton 100%

Abbreviations:
ch – chain stitch
st - stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet

inc – increase, 2 sc in the next sc

Body.
Start with red yarn.
Start with making a round base. Work
in continuous rounds without slip
stitches.
Rnd 1: 7 sc in the MR

Сut the base of cardboard.
Connect the pink yarn (don’t cut the
red one):
Rnd 10 BLO: (red) inc, 1 sc, (pink)

sc, (red) 3 sc, (pink) 3 sc.
Repeat (red) 3 sc, (pink) 3 sc
around this round. (66)

Always change the color of yarn at the last step of the


last stitch of the previous color.
Place pink yarn on the top of crocheted piece and
continue to crochet with red yarn over it.
If you do everything correctly, the yarn of different color
will not be seen either on right or wrong side.
If you see the yarn through the stitches, try to pull the
(inside) yarn a bit before every color change. But don’t
pull too much, as your work may wrap! The width of your
project should stay the same after every row.

Cut off the yarn, leave a long end.
Close the top using a needle, tie off and hide the end
into the body.

Hat.
With white yarn.

Cut off the yarn.
Finish the round in an invisible way: pull the end of yarn
through the last stitch completely, thread the end of yarn
through the needle, skip one stitch and guide the yarn into
the next stitch as shown on the photo.
Insert the needle back in the same hole where the yarn
comes from. Fasten the obtained stitch.

This stitch is called a «closing stitch». When you are
finished, fasten the yarn on the back side of detail.

Arms.
Start with white yarn.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in the MR, go on in
continuous rounds without slip
stitches.
Rnd 2: (inc, 3 sc)*2 (10)
Rnd 3: 10 sc
Rnd 4: 5 sc, 1 puff stitch, 4 sc (10)
Rnd 5: 5 sc, dec (two stitches of puff
stitch), 4 sc (10)
Connect the red yarn.
Rnd 6: BLO 10 sc
Rnd 7-16: sc in each stitch around 10
rounds.
Stuff the bottom part of the arm
(palm) with stuffing material, you
don’t have to stuff the top part of
the arm.

Then squeeze the hole of the hand so that the stitches
of the last round line each other.
Crochet the opposite stitches with 4-5 sc.
Cut the yarn, leave a long end for sewing.

Nose.
With beige yarn.

stitches.

Work in turning rows.

Row 2: ch 1, 3 inc (6)
Row 3: ch 1, (inc, 1 sc)*3 (9)
Row 4: ch 1, (inc, 2 sc)*3 (12)
Row 5: ch 1, (inc, 3 sc)*3 (15)
Row 6: ch 1, (3 dc in next stitch, 1 sc)*repeat 7 times.
Cut the yarn, hide the end.
For ties chain 50, connect the apron and crochet 10 sc,
chain 50. Cut the yarn.

Assembly and decoration.
For beard cut the semi-wool yarn, tie a piece of yarn to
the free 8 loops of 28 round.

Attach the arms to the body with some pins between 28 and
29 rounds of the body.
Attach the nose over the beard.

Put on the hat. The tops of arms and nose should be placed
under the hat.

Take off the hat, sew the arms and nose to the body.
Put on the hat and attach it to the body with hidden
stitches. Sew the ends of mustache to the hat.
