CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background of the Problem

Love relationships are characterized by closeness or intimacy between

partners. The presence of another person or third person from a relationship with a
partner can be prepared as an intimacy partner. Individuals can consider their partner
to turn to the third party so they will lose their partner. In this case, each person agrees
with jealousy because they consider the third party as the party entitled to approve the
couple

Jealousy is a feeling of unhappiness and anger because someone has

something or someone that you want Jealousy generally refers to the thoughts or
feelings of insecurity, fear, and concern over a relative lack of possessions. Jealousy is
a combination of negative emotions, According to the KBBI, jealousy is a feeling of
being happy or not happy to see other people lucky.

Jealousy can actually occur in friendship or romantic relationships. In

friendships we usually free more friends to connect with other people than by freeing
a partner. So that when a partner is involved in a relationship with another person, we
perceive more threats in the relationship with a boyfriend than with a friend. In other
words, we will be more jealous in relationships than in friendships.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

2.1. Theory

In this analysis, the writer will take the theory on book The Jealousy
Cure: Learn to Trust, Overcome possessiveness, and Save Your Relationship
by Robert Leahy. In this book jealousy occurs when we fear that our special
relationship is a threatened. We fear that our partner or friend will lose interest
in us and form a closer relationship with someone else. We feel threatened by
their attention to this person. Jealousy does not occur in a vacuum, it is
actually about three people. It is the third person who threatens our special
relationship. We can be jealousy of our lover, friend, familymembers and
coworkers. We can, if we are unfortunate, perceive threats ftom almost anyone
who enters our social sphere. We fear that things may unrevel rapidly and that
we will be humiliated, marginalized
