REVIEW:
By looking at the crime reports for past three days some of which are mentioned above we can
see that crime in Pakistan is present in various forms. Organized crime like drug trafficking,
murders, kidnapping for ransom, corruption etc. the crime rate in the country is increasing day by
day, the graph of vehicle theft and snatching, mobile phones snatching , fatal incidents and
general crimes is on rise. The government has failed to do its job in providing safety and security
to its people, who are being robbed, harassed and killed every single day. High unemployment,
rising poverty, increasing inflation and Urbanization have played their part in rise in crimes. By
going through the crime reports we see that the impact of rising crime is not confined to the
illiterate and poor class of society; even some wealthy, well-placed and educated persons are also
involved in committing crime
After reading these reports, the factors that I have identified that have led to increase in crime
rate in Pakistan are:
1. There are no jobs and if some so there is no job safety people are disappointed and due to
that they become frustrated conduct crime like theft taking and bribes.
2. There is no rule and regulation and due to lack of judiciary there is no fear of being
punished so this also contributes in increase in crime rate.
3. Unemployment in the country has increased the crime rates as many people are not able
to get any jobs and to fulfill the needs of their family they have to get money. When
unemployment rate increases the opportunities for earning income decreases which
instigate the individuals to commit crime.
4. Through reading the articles it’s concluded that poverty also causes crimes. The poor
have limited income and resources to satisfy their desires and wants. The low income in
relation to increase prices (inflation) has crime instigating effect by reducing individual’s
moral threshold. Therefore, it can be concluded that people in poverty are induced to
commit crime.
5. Inflation is also causing crime. Increased prices result in decreasing real income of the
individuals which reduces the purchasing power of the individuals belonging to low
income group. This situation forces them to boost their income for maintaining their
existing living standards by legitimate or illegitimate means including criminal activities.
