a. What are the roles of the following in the growth of social

science.

• Church
- The church teachings became the basis of theological
reasoning of social and political philosophies and its
religious traditions were mainly relied by the universities in
medieval period. But for some reason, philosophers like
Martin Luther is against on its sale of indulgences that led to
the Protestant movement and eroded the Roman Catholic
Church.
• Education
-It became the single most important factor in the rise of social
sciences. The modern universities started to rely on science
and its method to interpret the world. It became the hub of
training future scientists, technocrats, and technological
innovations. Education also spreads the scientific world view
and people saw their lives as no longer at the mercy of fate or
destiny.
• Commerce and Trade

- When Marco Polo started to record his journey, the beauty

of Asia was introduced to the western countries. Therefore,
commerce and trade became intensified and became the
way for the medieval guilds or workers to be absorbed into
the emerging factory system. This affects the social view of
the Social Scientists.

• Colonization

b. How beneficial were the contributions of the social scientists in

the growth of social science?
 -The contributions of social scientists play an important role not
only in the growth of social science but in all fields. They set out to
answer the most fundamental questions about human behavior,
interaction, and decision-making. So, we can say that through
their help, there are changes that are happening that makes our
world continuously growing into modernization.

Write an essay on what discipline they will take and study

to change society, an anthropology, sociology, or political
science?

-For me taking political science is the most influential way

to change the society. It lies in the fact that all of us live
within political systems and we are affected by the changes
in the global political economy. Serving their analysis of
political systems, theoretical and practical applications to
politics and the examination of political behavior of
political science, of course with the help of its other
branches play a big role on decisions of the government
and insights of people towards them. Having a good and
wise government in a country will make the society and its
economy to improve.l

Who among the social scientists is your favourite why?

Explain your answer.
-For me, my favorite social scientist is Louis Pasteur
because his contributions are still used today in making
new vaccines. We all know that he was the one who
discovered the germ theory and that led his team to create
vaccinations like for rabies which is very common until this
time. Like what I said, his discoveries are a big help to our
microbiologists and other scientists for the development of
vaccinations, and maybe it might be also be a help in
finding COVID 19 vaccine. He proved that, life is not all
about destiny and mercy and that affects the social
science.
