1 Importance of Studying History

Considering the current situation in the Philippines, why do you think it is important for Filipinos
to study and understand our country's past? As a nation, are there significant learnings from our
history which we can we learn from in order for the Philippines to move forward to a progressive
country?

Considering the current situation in the Philippines, I think it is important for Filipinos to study
and understand our country’s past for us to develop a better understanding of our country, to gain
insights on how to deal with the present, and to observe how people and the society behaved. As
a nation, yes, there are significant learnings from our history which we can learn from history in
order for the Philippines to move forward as a progressive country, because history is the key to
a nation's past, present, and future, and history always repeats itself whatever mistakes we are
making right now, humanity did it of course centuries or decades ago, and if we do not learn
from those mistakes, it will repeat itself in the future.
