The main focus of Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters is good versus evil. Percy is is the
main protagonist in the story and the books point of view comes from Percy Jackson and The
Sea of Monsters character. His thoughts and emotions are seen. While Percy is young and has his
flaws, it is clear that he embodies what the image of most heroes should look like. Percy is
willing to put himself in danger in order to help the camp and his friends. Although he is willing
to fight with everything he has Percy also shows that he is willing to go without the praise and
glory that goes with being a hero. He sends Clarisse back to the camp with the fleece and keeps
quiet when she is hailed as the heroine even though she had been willing to give up at one point
in the story.

Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson are captured yet again by Luke who tries to invite
them to his hospitality aboard the Princess Andromeda. Percy, however, manages to contact the
camp with an Iris Message, tricking Luke into admitting he poisoned Thalia's tree. In a duel with
Luke, Percy is nearly killed and gets his leg injured. He is saved by Chiron and his relatives, the
Party Ponies. Chiron is rehired after being proven innocent, and the Golden Fleece cures Thalia's
tree of Luke's elder snake poison, a substance taken from Tartarus in the Underworld. Suddenly,
Thalia, the daughter of Zeus herself, emerges from the tree for the reason that the Golden Fleece
does its work too well, bringing her back to life, and giving Kronos yet another chance to control
the prophecy.

The main setting of the book takes place in the sea of monsters. There is lots of little
islands all around. To get into the sea of monsters they have to pass by two monsters. They are
on cliffs and are almost impossible to get around. One of the monsters will suck you the water
and everything else in it. The second monster will snatch people on the ship and eat them. The
second place they went to was a really nice island with a big really nice resort. That is where
Percy Jackson gets turned into a guinea pig. The island has a really nice swimming pool, free
massages, and just about anything else you want. It is like a dream vacation resort. The next
island they come to has the sirens on it. It is a very dark and gloomy island. It has bones from
dead animals, old ships that have been wrecked. The sirens will sing and will show you what
your fatal flaw is. The last island is beautiful. It is super lush and green, no pollution, nothing
artificial built anywhere. It has the golden fleece on it which is what Percy Jackson is looking
for. When they take the Fleece the island turns back to an ugly island with dead trees, and very
dry and sick looking. They finally end their quest at camp Half-Blood.

On Percy's way to the Sea of Monsters he faces many difficulties. First off they get on the
Princess Andromeda, which is a ship that is deserted. But then later they find out that there are
many people on the boat that look very strange. When Percy and Annabeth try to see what is
going on, they see Luke on board commanding the ship. After Luke finds out they are on board
he tries to get them, but it was too late, they had already cut the ropes to the lifeboats and they
were off headed for the Sea of Monsters. When they get closer they have to pass the C.C.'s spa
and resort which is meant to turn you into your true self. When C.C. told Percy that if he drank
this drink he would turn into a better you Percy thought it was a good idea. When he drank it he
turned into a rodent and his voice when he spoke just squeaked. When Annabeth came over to
C.C. she asked where Percy had gone but when Annabeth turned she saw him squeaking in the
cage. So she took out the vitamins Hermes gave them and gave it to Percy and then became a
human again and destroyed C.C. with the ability with the vitamins to be immune to her magic.
Then came Polyphemus's island, the first they saw when they entered was a herd of sheep
minding their own business. Then all of a sudden a deer comes out of nowhere and the sheep go
attack it and eat it in one big gulp. They needed to avoid them so they went the other way around
and found Grover trapped by Polyphemus. They then created a plan Annabeth would distract and
Percy and Tyson would go in and save them. Then the big cyclops had captured Annabeth and
they had the whole plan screwed up. Next somehow they all got out of the cave, but they knew
they still had to get the fleece. Luckily they had brought Tyson along and when he went to get
the fleece he went right by the sheep without them scenting him. After that Tyson tossed
Annabeth the fleece, but to get stopped by Polyphemus. Percy and Polyphemus went at it a head
to head battle when out of nowhere Tyson throws a huge rock that get stuck in his mouth and
falls back into the ocean. They then hurry to the ship they get on but by then the big cyclops was
up out of the water trying to throw rocks at them and hit them. By that time though he couldn't
see anything so if someone talked he would throw it toward that. The first one to talk was
Clarisse she screamed at the cyclops taunting him then he threw and it hit the boat. Thankfully a
friend named rainbow a big hippocampi came underwater and carried them all the way to Miami
Beach. When they got to Miami Beach Luke was waiting for them. Luckily they had back-up
coming was Mr. Chiron and some of his friends. They took them back to camp and when they
got there they put the fleece on the tree the whole camp was filled with joy. But the next night
they had news that the fleece had worked its powers to well and the girl came back to life in
human form and surprised everyone.
