items, footwear, jersey and other athletic accessories. In 2007, Umbro has been bought by Nike

Introduction
The business industry has enormous opportunities, risks and competition at a times. In the
sportswear industry, it has been more competitive and strenuous in dealing with shareholders and
adopting culture maintaining a business environment. The business should have a structure and a
strategy to run into the emerging market. Umbro sportswear is a public limited company with
large market demand. It has local demand as well. In business sectors, there are sub-sectors for
the different categorized organizations such as public sector, private sector, and voluntary sector
organization. The revenue of the public sector is estimated more than the private sector and also
in the Private sector, they have more employees compared to the public. In the terms of income,
the company can be a profit, non-profit or NGO but Umbro is a profit-based company. It has
stockholders, clients and others and they earn high revenue annually. The sportswear Umbro has
an organizational map for directors, employees and other staff (Nash, S.L., 2021).

Market Size and Growth of the International Business Environment
In order to expand the business internationally, the market size should be analyzed by the sports
company. The growth of the market incredibly depends on the size of the market and potential
buyers. Sports apparel market share is 4.8% currently and the market size is getting higher than
before. After the pandemic, it has raised. The stock price is 192.50 of Umbro. Umbro
Sportswear PLC is a top-manufacturing company and it has an effective market economy with
solid revenue. It helps in gaining investment and uplifting business strategy (Baumann-Pauly,
2016).
The growth of sports apparel companies has a greater effect on the environment in the
international market. Growth can be stimulated by some factors like political, socio-cultural,
economic, and technological. These factors will be affecting industrial growth and a few things
are like global concentration, synergies and motivations will drive it ahead. The export ratio is
higher and also it's dealing with different surroundings (Blackburne, 2019).

Factsheet of Umbro Sports Plc including organizational background, product
and services, size and scope, vision, mission and business objectives and legal
structure and information about the stakeholders

Umbro has been serving the best quality products to all the brands and meeting the local

stockholders of Umbro sports are satisfied with the outcome and also they have loyal
stakeholders as well.

8
Figure: Umbro Sportswear
Umbro Sports manufactures sports footwear, jersey, fashion clothing, boots, shorts, other
apparel, bags and other accessories as well. Umbro can face many issues but satisfying
stakeholders being a public organization is much tough. As they have the support of Nike, but

9
they need to make their strategy maintain the consumer's trends. In the previous report and
graph, the sports apparel company has generated its highest revenue in 2018 and is predicted to
have good sales by the next few years. The companies have been established online and become
more prominent in e-commerce. As a strategist, I can interpret that Umbro should expand its
channel with brand outlets and also make a strong bond with stakeholders.
Size and Scope of Umbro Sports
Umbro has a good market share and collaboration with Nike. With a larger capital market, it is
generating higher revenue. As it has established good networks thus it can go far competing with
other apparel companies. The purpose of Umbro is to produce the latest trending sports apparel
maintain quality and provide smart goods (Janoskova, K. and Kral, P., 2020).
Vision, Mission and Objectives
Umbro has a very coherent sense. Nothing less than 'high value both globally and locally' should
be the standard. The mission is to prioritize meeting client needs while maintaining top-notch
service quality. Consumers benefit from good and attractive designs as a result of good
relationships with all clients. Umbro’s goal is to increase overall shareholder return by
generating long-term, sustainable earnings growth. They aim to invest in future growth, and their
ideas are based on long-term viability (Northern, 2018).
Stakeholders of Umbro
The list of clubs of Umbro is West Ham United, Hearts FC, Derby County FC. The stakeholders
hold a very important position. They have become the sponsor of Blackburn Rovers. The
stakeholders can be affected by an organization's activities. Customers, Suppliers, delivery
partners, creditors from Bank are the potential stakeholders of Umbro (Aniskova, 2020).
Legal Structure
The company should diversify the market and focus on supermarkets, hypermarkets, superstores
and other shops. This structure of legalization will help to establish more stores.

10
An analysis of Umbro Plc to show how internal departments work together to
meet business objectives
The main goal of a company is to make high-end sales. It has different types of employees and
the board of director's work toward the same goals. To obtain the goal, in Umbro, there are
specific departments like finance, marketing, production operation management, HR and others.
Umbro is a leading organization that needs a planned structure to be in the size and do
organizational operations (Ali, 2021).
The character of an organization can be defined by its structure, which can be one of the different
forms: classical, functional, or divisional. The traditional organizational structure is relatively
centralized and is associated with small firms. An internal functional structure splits its personnel
into groups based on their job functions. It might have to do with the bigger companies. A
functional unit is divided into divisions using the divisional structure. An organizational structure
specifies how employees are segmented and who they report to (Quirke, B., 2017).
Business endeavours to attain its goal by working as a team. The strategy should be established
in every department. Internal departments work like the strong base of a business to make it
whole. It helps a company to forecast future plans and perceive its work (Quirke, B., 2017).

In order to attain the objectives, the internal department's contribution will be resulting in success
with a high gross margin. Umbro can adopt the strategy to make it more profitable. The concept
"interrelationship" refers to the connection between the organization's functions and their
reliance on attaining the organization's various goals. Different departments exist within
corporations, each with its own set of responsibilities. The organization's functions work together
to fulfil the organization's goals and objectives. The organizational activities and operations I
Umbro are interdependent on one another, and the chain of command and chain of responsibility
defines the interaction between them (Yeomans, 2017).

11
Organizational Structure
Umbro is a sports apparel company that is structured with a hierarchy of management. The
board of directors finalize the plan and every other decision.

12
The structure of Umbro is the matrix and is also functional. It may vary sometimes with different
segments. The functions of the organizational structure show a mind-map of how the company
work and also provide customer service. Every department has its own value with its individual
efforts. To enhance the value proposition, the actions are carried out to compete with the
international market. The marketing department will help in forecasting sales, where finance will
operate the transactions. These are interconnected and will help to capitalize on the market and
generate sales of Umbro.

Pros and Cons

With help of internal departments, the team can work effectively and disseminate the knowledge.
This will help them to learn new skills. The experienced managers from each department will
contribute to reviewing the whole work.
Lack of coordination, segregation and departmental arguments can put a negative impact.

13
Conclusion
The internal department is part of the organizational structure that leads the company to think
innovatively and work for the ultimate goal. The objectives can be concrete and specific when
the departments will work within a system and the structure of the company ensures variability
(Fila, 2020).

Factors
PESTLE analysis is done to oversee the impacts on the company. This model has been created to
observe the business environment and its impact to reduce conflicts ad barriers with enhancing
the products activity level. The analysis helps with political, economic, socio-cultural,

technological, and environmental (Perera, 2017).

Figure: PESTLE Analysis Model

Political Factor that Impact Umbro Plc

Being a leading brand in the UK, Umbro has a global reputation and it does high-end works. It's
a well-known sporting goods retailer which can draw a huge margin of profits annually. The
political factor can put an impact on Umbro as there are other countries. For licensing, they may
face issues as already they don't supply in the US. There are some regulations from govt. of UK
and tax policies, trade hurdles and political issues. When there are democratic issues, the
business may go down. Umbro faced challenges when the BREXIT happened. Anti-trust law and
govt. intervention in the sports apparel industry may be the main issue of Umbro Plc (David,
2019).

Economic Factor
Economic factors can bring a positive impact on the company with increasing productivity when
the market will be high. If Umbro can sell stock at price then it will be beneficial for them.
Umbro can anticipate its development while assessing the impact of economic factors such as

17
hyperinflation and the rate of growth. In PESTLE analysis, the impact retailing industry to
comprehend the economy's revolution, along with foreign exchange rates and other interest rates
(David, 2019).
Economic factors can contribute to the stabilization of a currency rate, the improvement of
infrastructure, the reduction of unemployment, and the implementation of a free-market policy.
Social Factor
There can be an impact with both positive and negative manner on Umbro. Social diversity
should be taken care of by Umbro and also check whether the products don't go against society.
The industry should maintain ethics. Social belief will help to meet the local demands and
culture has a great effect on the organization and sometimes, the social factors can be the barriers
of Umbro (David, 2019).
Technological Factor
The updated re-engineering process can bring an impact when employees don’t want to
cooperate with new technology. The technological factor can increase the cost and complexity of
the business. Umbro is benefiting greatly from current technology in terms of arranging the
framework. They have an e-commerce site that is totally dependent on technology and this can
influence the brand to get benefits. By the technological good impact, it has uplifted the internal
function for the manufacturing betterment (David, 2019).
Legal Factor
The copyrights, trademarks, cyber law and other issues should be the concern to run the business
smoothly. As Umbro is a leading company, so these legal issues can bring a huge impact on the
business (David, 2019).
Environmental Factor
The company should not use any kind of material which is harsh and clearly restricted. They can
check the emission of pollution. The environment should be safe as a living space.
The competition level is high and also there are funding sources as well and after being the
concern of Nike it can emerge into the market (David, 2019).

18
SWOT Analysis of Umbro Sportswear Plc
Using the SWOT analysis model, the company will be able to know the probable issues and
opportunities and can use them to lessen the conflicts and escalate the revenue. The external
factors are threats and opportunities and internals are strengths and weaknesses. It's defined as a
generator of productivity, sales promotion and all. Umbro can develop the business with a strong

management paradigm that will help Umbro to know its competitors (Teoli, 2019).

Strengths
It has the best quality products manufactured and a strong bond with the brands in the retail
market. Also has large consumer groups with effective team management. Umbro has more
strengths like strong brand value already established, market exploration. It manufactures and
supplies in time. These have been great strengths to expand business (Shtal, 2018).

Weaknesses
There are a few areas where they need to improve and practice on. While improving the quality
of their products and selling them, they ran into a problem with product suite and capital
management. Financing a business incorrectly is a bigger problem. It adheres to the classic
pyramid structure, which is out of date and ineffective. Putting forth a lot of effort for the
organization will not result in success if the culture is not integrated. They are having issues with
the re-engineering process, which should be addressed (Shtal, 2018).

19
Opportunities
Umbro has several opportunities including youth encouragement, trends and emerging markets
(Shtal, 2018).

Threats
Due to the high amount of competitors, the business may face issues. Management can fail to
fulfil the target. Competitive threats may arise (Shtal, 2018).

20
Recommendation
The analysis of PESTLE and SWOT has drawn the map of Umbro Plc and this will help in the
near future. It will intensify the performance quality, increase revenue and processing will be
more accurate.
Umbro can implement the plan according to the objectives by observing the external and internal
factors which can be discerned of the business environment. They should have dedication,
collaboration and flexibility (Hamilton, 2018).

21
Conclusion
The business has been more tough and competitive at a time because of social media
engagements, globalization, and technological advancement. There are rules and regulations for
every industry and especially the sports industry face many issues while expanding the business
and establishing into the market. This SWOT will help Umbro to understand the things to
maximize the profit and reduce the production cost. The leading brands always have high-end
competitors so these will help Umbro Plc to establish sustainability.
