This poster is an advertising campaign from the department of Canadian heritage promotes the light
on Canada day in others words the celebration of Canada day in July the first at 8pm on CBC
television. It meanly targets Canadian citizens who’s proud to be Canadian. Canada, second largest
country in the world in area, situated in North America is officially bilingual in English and French. The
capital is Ottawa, a very ethnically and racially diverse country with 36,5 million inhabitants. A
constitutional monarchy with a federal parliamentary system, the head of state is the governor
general and the executive power held by the prime minister of federal government. Former of British
colony, independence from UK via statue of Westminster 1931 and sovereignty via Canada act 1982.
Canada is composed of 10 provinces and 3 territories and 6 major geography regions. Since July 1,
1867: The British North America Act (now the Constitution Act, 1867) created Canada. A federal law
makes July 1 a holiday under the designation of "Confederation Day", which later becomes
"Dominion Day" and in 1982 "Dominion Day" officially becomes "Canada Day». «Lights on Canada
day”, the letters are bigger and bigger to culminate in the word “Canada” in big block letters and in
white to catch the viewer’s attention. The background of the poster is in red which represents the
colours of the Canadian flag, on the bottom left we see the maple leaf used to symbolize Canada the
land and its inhabitants which is on a white background which pays tribute to the French royal
emblem. "La fete du Canada day" written in small French letters and “day” in English refers to a
French-English country. In the centre of the poster, about thirty names are written in small white
letters, these are Canadian artists who have come to represent the country's culture and history on
this special day. This is quite a conventional poster, original and gives enough information’s for it to
be easy to leers but also to take information out of.
