The training acquired by the engineer may be either a structured

undergraduate studies may also be counted towards recognized

J1.5. For candidates employed in Institutions in


Category e) above

This is a special provision for Associate members of


IESL who have construction experience in the
following two types of organizations/ projects.

Category 1: Engineering graduates having Associate


Membership (AMIESL) who are employed in
companies in Sri Lanka having the following CIDA
gradation:

 Civil Construction: C3 and above (C3, C2, C1,


CS1, CS2),
 Electrical & Mechanical Services: EM2 & EM1,
but not recognized by IESL.

Category 2: Engineering graduates having Associate


Membership (AMIESL) who are employed by
foreign companies in Sri Lanka or overseas.

Submissions for PR should be done by these


candidates as per the current PR Rules, similar to
other candidates.

In addition, for Category 2, the candidate must


provide the following documents to assess and
review their experience overseas by the panel
members.

 Academic qualifications as per IESL acceptance


criteria.
 Details of visa, passport and employment

category.
 Information about the company including the
nature of work, number of registered
Engineers employed in the country where
candidate is working.
 Details of registration of engineer/s who
guided or trained the candidate & contact
details of immediate supervisor and the PEng.
or CEng. who certified the Training &
experience.
 Superior engineer’s involvement in the project
where the candidate is employed.
 All details or information such as grading of
the company and the details of existing
grading system of the country etc. along with
contact details of respective organization/s for
independent verification of the project,
company and the credentials of the
supervising Engineer.
 Any other information necessary to verify the
training, experience and duration, if required
by IESL.

For both the above categories, the eligibility


checking panel will guide the Membership Division
to forward these particular applications to PSMC as
a special Category to appoint panel members.

For recognized training and responsible experience,


the period in such an institution is taken as 50% of
the actual period of training or experience. If the
candidate has any period of training or experience
in an approved organization, that period may be
added to make up the total period.

candidates, to verify the following:

 Construction experience
 Projects involvement
 Grade and Capacity of the Company providing
training and experience
 Credentials of the Supervising Engineer

The five-member panel should comprise two


Design Engineers in the relevant field and three
Engineers with similar experience, preferably
overseas experience, in the relevant field.

The Interview will be conducted as per the PR


Rules, but the total duration of the interview will
be 90 minutes for these two Categories.

Setting of A paper should be assigned to two panel


members having similar experience, in advance, by
the IESL.

Candidates (Associate Members) who wish to go


for foreign employment are advised that:

 They must duly inform the IESL on their


country of work, workplace details, type of
work and the credentials of the company.
 IESL shall consider the date the candidate
informed as the start date for counting work
experience, if the details provided on the place
of their work, credentials of Supervising
Engineer etc. are found to be satisfactory, by
the eligibility checking panel.
 The acceptability of the workplace and the
starting date will be notified to the candidate

by the IESL.
 Candidate should maintain his/her Training
and Experience record (Logbook) duly signed
by the superior Engineer at the respective
workplace and send them to IESL as per the
requirement.
 The candidate shall provide all details of the
work he carried out during each month as per
the Training and Experience (Logbook)
requirements with the signature of the
supervising Engineer.
IESL shall reserve the right to reject or accept the credentials of
the company, superior engineer or any other details provided,
after an independent verification of the data.
