Situation:
Three (3) buildings are to be constructed on a 1 hectare lot. Building A will be a normal classroom
building, with five (5) storeys and will cover a lot area of 4000sq.m. Building A will be an
Administration Building, with six (6) storeys and will cover a lot area of 2000 sq.m. Building C will
be the Laboratory Building, with two (2) storeys, and will cover a lot area of 3000sq.m. The rest of
the lot will be used for auxiliary and parking spaces. As require by the National Building Code of the
Philippines (NBCP), Buildings A and B will have two elevators each. Note that for Building C, State-
of-the art Laboratory Equipment will be installed in the ground and second floor.

The lot is located near small body of water which makes the soil soft, with a bearing capacity not
suitable for shallow foundations. In this situation, Piles will be used, with at least 18 meters in depth.

The construction will more or less take 21 months to finish.

For the purpose of this activity, assume your group to be a starting-up company and you have no
owned equipment.

Tasks:

Provide a lists of plants and equipment that is necessary for the completion of the project
Identify if you will rent or buy the plants and equipment. Prove that your selected option is better
than the other one.
Indicate the specifications of these plants and equipment
Search for the approximate price (in Php) of these plants and equipment (rental and/or selling prices)
To simplify, assume that all plants and equipment will be used for the whole duration of the project.
