Self-Assessment Activity:

The influence of the Catholic Church was more than a religion and powerful than a
spiritual guidance. It was the governing body that passed the bills and engaged in
administration level decision-makings during Rizal’s time. It controlled the members and
enlarged its influence to societal and political affairs. For example the church was so influential
where the people offered 1/10th of their earning in tithes. Also the practice like baptism,
marriage and communion became strong in the culture.
