SUMMARY OF THE RESEARCH

This study focuses in the production of an easily-degrading and environment-friendly

bioplastic film made from the fish gelatin of milkfish scales, to reduce marine waste, and nami

starch, which is not dominant in the market compared to other starches. The researchers will

utilize the two main components which have good film-forming abilities with varying

concentration of fish gelatin in different setups and constant amount of nami starch, and use

several tests and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to test the level of effectiveness of the product.

This study would serve great purpose to the consumers, future researchers, community and the

environment.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aims to answer the following queries:

1. What are the physical characteristics of the bioplastic in terms of:

a) Transparency

b) Thickness

c) Shelf life

2. What is the level of effectiveness of the product as bioplastic in different concentrations

of fish gelatin in terms of:

a) Tensile strength

b) Water Solubility

c) Degradability

3. Is there a relationship or significant differences between the level of effectiveness and

the varying concentration of fish gelatin in the bioplastic?

4. What are the conditions to enhance to improve the bioplastic from fish gelatin and nami

starch?
5. How much will it cost to make this bioplastic from fish waste and nami starch? Is it more

affordable compare to the commercially available plastics?
