10th GRADE UNITES

10.1. ELECTRICITY AND MAGNETISM

This unit consists of 4 subtitles and 9 objectives. Students describes the concepts
of electric current, resistance and potential difference and the reasons for
connecting the power supplies in series and parallel, analyzes the variables that
affect the resistance of a solid conductor, and the relationship between electrical
current, resistance and potential difference, describes the reasons for connecting
the power supplies in series and parallel, associates the concepts of electrical
energy and electrical power, describes the health and safety measures that must
be taken against the dangers that the electric current may pose and the magnetic
field of magnets and its properties, analyzes variables that affect the magnetic
field formed by a straight current carrying conducting wire and describes the
results of Earth's magnetic field. Mathematical calculations of the variables that
affect the resistance of a solid conductor,and the internal resistance , the change
of resistance due to temperature and resistance reading process with color
codes, the connection of power supplies with different electromotive forces,
Kirchhoff Laws, mathematical calculations except for calculations about electrical
energy that a resistance spends in unit time, mathematical calculations of the
attraction and repulsion forces of magnets, n, mathematical calculations about the
direction and magnitude of the magnetic field are not included. The formulas in
this unit are, V(Electric Potantial)=k*Q/d, F(coulomb)=k*Q1*Q2/d^2, E(Electrical
Field)=k*Q/d^2, E=F/Q, V=I*R, P(Electrical Power)=I^2*R. Units used in this unit
are Volt(V) for potential, Newton(N) for Coulomb Force, Newton/Coulomb for
Electrical Field, Watt(W) for Electrical Power.

10.2. PRESSURE AND BUOYANCY

This unit consists of 2 subtitles and 4 objectives. Students describes the variables
affecting pressure and pressure force for solids, liquids and gases, establishes a
relationship between flow speed and fluid pressure in fluids, explains that the
buoyant force that acts on objects in fluids is caused by pressure differences, and
propose a solution using the buoyant force and/or Bernoulli’s Principle to the
problems from daily related to the buoyant force. Resolving into components and
mathematical calculations related to solid and liquid pressure and pressure force,
mathematical models regarding gas pressure and Pascal’s principle,
mathematical calculations related to Bernoulli’s Principle, and for buoyant force
are not included. The formulas in this unit are P(Solid Pressure)=G/S, P(Liquid
Pressure)=h*d*g, FB(Buoyant Force) =V*d*g. Units used in this unit are
Pascal(Pa(N/m^2)) for solid and liquid pressure, Newton(N) for buoyant force.

10.3. WAVES

This unit consists of 5 subtitles and 12 objectives. Students explains the concepts
of vibration, wave motion, wavelength, period, frequency, velocity and amplitude,
classifies the waves by the energy they carry and their direction of vibration, by
creating pulse and periodic wave, explains the difference between them, analyzes
the reflection and transmission of pulse in springs, explains the concepts of
direction of the propagation, wave crest and wave trough, analyzes the reflection
of the plane and circular water waves, relates the depth of water and the
propagation speed of the water waves, analyzes the refraction of plane water
waves, explains the basic concepts of sound waves with examples, gives
examples of the use of sound waves in medicine, maritime, art and geography,
defines the earthquake wave, develops solutions to prevent loss of life and
property caused by earthquakes. Mathematical calculations for period and
frequency concepts, the relationship of wave speed, wavelength and frequency,
mathematical calculations related to propagation speed of a pulse, mathematical
calculations for water wave, mathematical calculations related to the wavelength
and speed change of the water waves that change medium and stroboscope,
refractions through the lens-shaped water mediums, mathematical calculations
related to the refraction of water waves, refraction of circular water waves,
earthquake wave types are not included and It is limited to the concepts of sound
pitch, sound intensity, timbre of sound, resonance and echo. The formulas in this
unit are T(Period)=1/f(frequency), V(wave velocity)= λ*f. Units used in this unit are
second(s) for period, meter,millimeter, nanometer for wavelenght, s^-1 for
frequency.

10.4. OPTIC

This unit consists of 9 subtitles and 14 objectives. Students describes the particle
and wave models of light, establishes a relationship between luminous intensity,
luminous flux and illuminance, describes the light transmission properties of
transparent, semi-transparent and opaque materials, associates the reflection of light
with the reflection of water waves, describes the image formation in the plane mirror,
describes the concepts of focal point, center, vertex and principle axis in spherical
mirrors, describes the formation and characteristics of images in spherical mirrors,
associates the refraction of light with the refraction of water waves, analyzes the total
internal reflection and critical angle, describes the reasons that affect the apparent
depth of an object in a different medium, describes the features of lenses and types
of lenses, describes the characteristics of the image created by the lenses, describes
the features of light prism, explains the reasons for seeing the objects in color. 3)
Mathematical calculations of the concepts of luminous intensity, luminous flux and
illumination, mathematical calculations about umbra and penumbra, the intersecting
mirrors, the rotation of the mirror, the moving mirror and the moving object,
mathematical calculations for transparent and opaque obstacles, mathematical
calculations of spherical mirrors, mathematical calculations related to the Snell’s Law,
mathematical calculations of total internal reflection and critical angle, mathematical
model and calculations for apparent depth, mathematical model for the factors
affecting the focal length of a lens, drawings of image formations, mathematical
calculations about lenses, mathematical models related to prisms are not included.
The formulas in this unit are Φ(luminous flux) = 4.π.I, E(illumination intensity) = 1/d2,
E(illumination intensity-if there is an angle) = 1/d2.cosα, Hg / Hc = Dg / Dc forImage
and object in spherical mirrors, 1 / f = 1 / Dc + 1 / Dg for distance of image in
spherical mirrors. The units used in this unit are candela(Φ) for luminous flux and
illumination intensity.
