During the 16th Century in England, ballroom dance involved only a few professional dances

that are shared by both aristocrats and commoners, overtime ballroom dance be popularized by
Shakespeare’s stage performances and King Louise XIV’s massive passion for the art that he founded a
special school for professional dance training, which would later on become popular as ballet. The 18th
Century rolls around and Dancing gained global prominence, with different styles and variations
emerging. New variations of ballroom dance emereged in the 20th Century, with the Cha-Cha, Swing
and Samba, dance has evolved into much faster and independent movements. 21st Century saw the
prominence of Ballroom dancing globally, becoming a sport and a hobby for the average appreciator.

The video presented broadening insights towards the subject and history of Ballroom Dance.
Initially, I had assumed that Ballroom dance was a specific genre of dance itself with no varying sub-
genres, one that solely involved slow dancing during professional and sophisticated events and
conventions that remains its sole purpose and characteristic towards present day. The video helped
provide the audience an appreciator’s point of view towards Ballroom Dance, explaining its history,
impact and benefits. The video also offers as a gatekeeper’s welcome toward the newbies looking to set
their foot into the door of ballroom dancing, inspiring and elevating the audience to look forward into
partaking and learning History’s most influential crafts.
