INTRODUCTION
 First of all I would like to ask who ever
reading this booklet a simple question which
is WHO IS GOD? Well as simple it is you
may answer it the one who we believe in who
gives us everything who knows everything
about us and the one who created the world
but according to me god Is God is conceived
of as the Supreme Being, creator, and
principal object of faith. God is
usually conceived of as
being omnipotent, omniscient, omnipres
ent, and omnibenevolent as well as having
an eternal and necessary existence. God is
most often held to be incorporeal, with said
characteristic being related to conceptions
of transcendence or immanence. Well this is
more of the scientific side of god which is
very complicated but for us god is the father,
the one, whom all things came and all things
live. Over the centuries many people have
debated over existence of the god from most
of them it was proven that the god is real for

PAGE 3
example we can take The first, and best-
known, ontological argument which was
proposed by St. Anselm of Canterbury in the
11th century C.E. In his Pros logion (The Pros
logion (Latin: Proslogium, lit. 'Discourse') is
a prayer (or meditation), written by
the medieval cleric Saint Anselm of
Canterbury in 1077–1078, serving to reflect on
the attributes of God in order to explain
how God can possess seemingly
contradictory qualities. This meditation is
considered to be the first-
known philosophical formulation that sets
out the ontological argument for
the existence of God.) St. Anselm claims to
derive the existence of God from the concept
of a being than which no greater can be
conceived. St. Anselm reasoned that, if such a
being fails to exist, then a greater being—
namely, a being than which no greater can be
conceived, and which exists—can be
conceived. And from this debate it was
proven to people that god exists and here are

PAGE 4
some more examples from The Western
tradition of philosophical discussion of the
existence of God began
with Plato and Aristotle, who made
arguments that would now be categorized
as cosmological. Other arguments for the
existence of God have been proposed by St.
Anselm, who formulated the first ontological
argument and Thomas Aquinas, who
presented their own versions of the
cosmological argument
(the kalam argument and the first way,
respectively); René Descartes, who said that
the existence of a benevolent God is logically
necessary for the evidence of the senses to be
meaningful. John Calvin argued for a sensus
divinitatis, which gives each human a
knowledge of God's existence. Through
learning from something or faith so I think if
u are reading this u might have learnt a thing
or two from this.

PAGE 5
What is known as God’s Privilege?
 Today in the modern society many have left
their faith on god and have gone on the road
of evil. But we should not forget that there is
a god, there is someone who is always
watching us, and someone who loves us
and that is god. So what are god’s
privileges? Let’s first talk about what is a,
privilege a privilege is a special advantage
which is given by someone to a person or a
group. Well in this case god is the one who
is giving us privileges and we are the group
who is receiving it. God gives us privileges
to live a better life and for the people who
are on the wrong path and our god is
someone who always care for us which we
should be thankful for. Have u ever heard
about the parable about our talents in that
parable we learns about how the 3rd worker
used is talents and became rich and
prosperous and for the one who did not
used his talents and kept it away from using
he had to leave his masters work place this
is a great example about how god gives us

PAGE 6
privilege as in a instance I even have my
own experience to share with you all when I
was learning in the middle school first year I
was a bit aggressive kid who got in trouble
every once in a while but I can remember
we had a new middle school in charge
principle he was also happened to be a
priest as I could remember he could fluently
speak Latin English Greek and Tamil I can
remember while I was walking on the
corridor I could hear him speak different
languages in different times also I should
say even though I got in trouble I was really
fluent in English for kid who Is only in the
first year of middle school ,time passed and
in the month of may after the vacation the
priest came in to our class and who wanted
to join the official English literature union of
Loyola college at first no one raised their
hand but the priest started explaining I felt
like this is my chance this is the chance for
me to prove that I can also do something I
slowly raised my hand and the priest said
look our first sixth grade member as I was
raising my hand few other the class students

PAGE 7
raised their hand the next day we were
called the priest’s office and he explained
what we can do and what we can archive
through this and how god has given us a
privilege to shine so we started to attend
monthly English literature meetings and
slowly gained experience in the seventh
year the annual English competitions came I
went to participate in almost four events and
won three of them then I realized I have a
special skill for speaking in the next year on
the eighth grade I became a member of the
debaters club we had our workshops and I
gained experience after sometime in the
third half of the year our debating
tournaments began I still did not had a team
so I made a team from my closest friends
and we were winning we had a winning
streak of four debates and we lost in the
semifinals but I never gave up in the ninth
year two members of my team went to
another team and we did not had any
debates but suddenly we were invited to a
debating tournament which was held by D.s.
senenayake college negambo our priest had

PAGE 8
applied us to the tournament and me and
my friend were nominated from there I
debated with random people in my own
team we lost in the quarter finals after that
big debate came my most precious debate I
had participated yet it was a tournament
held by St. peters college Colombo 4 and it
was based on British parliamentary method
we participated to work shops and in the
tournament I became the sixtieth best
debater in our country. So this is a great
example for the privileges that is given to us
by god I am the one who received the
privilege and the priest was the one who
helped me and inspired to become a
debater so this I hope is a great example for
what we can do with our privileges we
should also use our talents to shine and not
use it for bad.

WHAT ARE HOLY SACRAMENTS?

You’ve probably heard of baptism, confirmation

and penance, but do you know what they all
have in common? If you said that they’re all
sacraments, you’re correct! These are three of
the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church.
Each is significant in its own way. a Christian
rite (such as baptism or the Eucharist) that is
believed to have been ordained by Christ and

PAGE 10
that is held to be a means of divine grace or to
be a sign or symbol of a spiritual reality Is
known as a sacrament

PAGE 11
WHAT ARE THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS?

PAGE 12
THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS ARE BAPTISM,
CONFIRMATION, EUCHARIST, PENANCE,
ANOINTING OF THE SICK, MARRIAGE AND
HOLY ORDERS. THEY ARE DIVIDED INTO
THREE CATEGORIES: SACRAMENTS OF
INITIATION, SACRAMENTS OF HEALING AND
SACRAMENTS OF SERVICE.

PAGE 13
WHAT IS A SACRAMENT?
Before we get into the details of each
sacrament, we want to reiterate one of the most
important things about the sacraments — that
they’re means which God uses to show His
grace and help us achieve salvation. The word
sacrament means “a sign of the sacred,” which

PAGE 14
is fitting as they are all outwards signs from God
to us.
Not only are they signs, they’re also celebrations
of a continued journey and relationship with
God, teachings to help live out His word and
ceremonies to show devotion to Him.

PAGE 15
WHERE DID THE SACRAMENTS
ORIGINATE?
In the Bible, Christ gives his followers clear
instructions on how to administer and receive
each of the sacraments. This is seen through
his work with the Apostles, healing the sick,
parables, giving his body and blood to nourish
our souls and forgiving sinners. The Church
administers these holy sacraments as
instructed

PAGE 16
THE SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION

The three sacraments of initiation are baptism,

confirmation and Eucharist. Each is meant to
strengthen your faith and forge a deeper
relationship with God. Baptism frees you from
original sin, confirmation strengthens your faith
and Eucharist allows you to taste the body and

PAGE 17
blood of eternal life and be reminded of Christ’s
love and sacrifice.

PAGE 18
Baptism

Baptism is the first sacrament where you

become united with Christ and the Church –
no other sacrament can be received without
it. A priest performs this rite by immersing
the baptismal candidate into water, therefore
cleansing their original sin through water
and the word. The candidate traditionally
wears white garments, a candle is lit and
they are anointed with sacred chrism. This is
the first step in your relationship with God

PAGE 19
and Christ. Usually this takes place when
the candidate is a baby, however, it’s never
too late and you’re never too old to begin
your journey with God. It’s common to have
a baptism celebration with friends and family
afterwards and give the child baptism
keepsakes that will help them grow in their
faith. Some bible quotes about baptism ;
Go therefore and make disciples of all the
nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
And it came to pass in those days that Jesus
came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was
baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway
coming up out of the water, he saw the
heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove
descending upon him: And there came a
voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Mark 1:9-11
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy
house. And he took them the same hour of
the night, and washed their stripes; and was

PAGE 20
baptized, he and all his, straightway. Acts
16:31, 33

PAGE 21
Confirmation

This is the sacrament that follows Baptism as

part of the initiation process with God and the
Church, where the candidate receives the gift of
the Holy Spirit and continues their journey with
Christ. During Confirmation, the candidate is
anointed on the forehead with chrism by a
bishop. Since baptism typically happens when
the candidate is a baby, confirmation is a great
way for an older child to acknowledge that they
still want to continue their journey with God and

PAGE 22
grow their relationship with Him. Celebrate your
child’s confirmation by giving them a Bible with
meaningful verses highlighted or cross as a daily
reminder of God’s love. Some bible verses
about confirmation;
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God will be
with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

For God so loved the world, that he gave his

only Son, that whoever believes in him should
not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he

said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever
follows me will never walk in darkness, but
will have the light of life.” John 8:12

PAGE 23
Eucharist

Eucharist means thanksgiving. This is when

Christ’s body and blood are offered and then
received by the parishioner in the form of bread
and wine. Christ during the Last Supper broke
bread, ate it, gave it to his disciples and told
them to eat it. Now the priest, through the words
of consecration, blesses and administers the
Holy Communion during every mass to remind
followers that they are one with Christ. Food and
drink nourishes our bodies, Christ’s blood and

PAGE 24
body nourishes us spiritually. Some bible verses
about the Eucharist

Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a

sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the
bread which we break a sharing in the body
of Christ? Since there is one bread, we who
are many are one body; for we all partake of
the one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17

While they were eating, Jesus took some

bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and
gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat;
this is my body.” And when He had taken a
cup and given thanks, He gave it to them,
saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is
my blood of the covenant, which is poured
out for many for forgiveness of sins.
Matthew 26:26-28

They devoted themselves to the apostles’

teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of

PAGE 25
bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled
with awe at the many wonders and signs
performed by the apostles. All the believers
were together and had everything in
common. They sold property and
possessions to give to anyone who had
need. Every day they continued to meet
together in the temple courts. They broke
bread in their homes and ate together with
glad and sincere hearts. Acts 2:42-46

PAGE 26
THE SACRAMENTS OF HEALING

The two sacraments of healing are penance and

anointing the sick. Penance allows for spiritual
healing and absolution for people who have

PAGE 27
distanced themselves from God through sin.
Anointing the sick allows for both physical and
spiritual healing. When one falls seriously ill, a
minister anoints them and prays over them,
calling on Christ to strengthen and heal.

Penance

PAGE 28
During the sacrament of Penance, one
confesses their sins to God through a priest who
forgives their sins by God’s mercy, and orders
them to live a more faithful life through
absolution. Confession is essential to cultivating
and fruitfully living out the word of God. We’re
not perfect people, even if we try to be. It feels
so much better to confess some of those things
you have done wrong and receive forgiveness.
This helps us have a stronger relationship with
God. Some bible verses about penance;
No, I say to you: but unless you shall do
penance, you shall all likewise perish.  Luke
13:3
But if the wicked do penance for all his sins
which he hath committed, and keep all my
commandments, and do judgment, and
justice, living he shall live, and shall not die.
Ezekiel 18:21
Whoever conceals their sins does not
prosper, but the one who confesses and
renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13

PAGE 29
Anointing the Sick

This sacrament is only bestowed upon those

who are seriously ill or suffering, which then
unites the inflicted with Christ’s passion.
Anointing the forehand and hands of the person
with chrism while a priest administers a special
blessing is how this sacrament is received. This
special blessing is one way to make the ill feel
strengthened and more connected with God in

PAGE 30
both mind and body. Some bible verses about
anointing the sick;
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for
the elders of the church, and let them pray
over him, anointing him with oil in the name
of the Lord.  James 5:14
And they cast out many demons and
anointed with oil many who were sick and
healed them.  Mark 6:13
This was to fulfill what was spoken by the
prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and
bore our diseases.”  Matthew 8:17

PAGE 31
THE SACRAMENTS OF SERVICE

Through marriage and the holy orders, couples

and the clergy promise to serve and build up the
church community.

PAGE 32
PAGE 33
Marriage

 Marriage isn’t just a union between man and

wife. The devotion husband and wife have to
each other, and to Christ, mirrors Christ’s
love and service to the church. Through
marriage, a couple promises to help build
each other up in faith, serve each other and
the church and be faithful to each other until

PAGE 34
death. Here are some bible verses about
marriage;
For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and
a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
For husbands, this means love your wives,
just as Christ loved the church. He gave up
his life for her. Ephesians 5:25
So God created man in his own image, in
the image of God he created him; male and
female he created them. And God blessed
them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and
multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and
have dominion over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the heavens and over every
living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:27-28

PAGE 35
Holy Orders

PAGE 36
This sacrament is for those who choose to
become a priest, bishop or deacon. Through
ordination, they are able to perform sacred
duties and serve the church community. This is
not a sacrament that everyone partakes in,
rather it’s one that people feel called to by God.
Here are some bible verses about the
sacrament of HOLY ORDER;
But you are a chosen race, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his
own possession, that you may proclaim the
Excellencies of him who called you out of
darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter
2:9
Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all
the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made
you overseers, to care for the church of
God, which he obtained with his own blood.
Acts 20:28
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Matthew 16:19

PAGE 37
LIVING OUT THE SACRAMENTS

Receiving one of the seven sacraments is a life-

changing moment where one truly experiences
God’s salvation and Christ’s sacrifice. Events
like first communion are exciting and deserve
special gifts. Growing in faith doesn’t only

PAGE 38
happen through the sacraments, it happens
through daily prayer and devotion. Tools like a
rosary, Bible, prayer journal and cross can assist
you in practicing your faith.
If you know anyone about to partake in a
sacrament or looking for tools to nourish their
faith, consider blessing them in their journey with
special religious gifts. It will be a keepsake that
will stay with them as their faith continues to
deepen.

PAGE 39
 How holy sacraments become the source of
god’s privilege
The liturgical life of the Catholic Church revolves
around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the
sacraments. There are seven sacraments in the
Church: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist,
Penance, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and
Holy Orders.
The purpose of the sacraments are to make
people holy, to build up the body of Christ, and
finally, to give worship to God; but being signs,
they also have a teaching function. They not
only presuppose faith, but by words and object,
they also nourish, strengthen, and express it;
that is why they are called "sacraments of faith."
The sacraments impart grace, but, in addition,
the very act of celebrating them disposes the
faithful most effectively to receive this grace in a
fruitful manner, to worship God rightly, and to
practice charity

Baptism is the gateway to life in the Spirit. It

is the means through which we gain access to
the other sacraments. Through baptism we are
freed from sin and reborn as children of God. By

PAGE 40
baptism we become members of Christ and his
church.
Given that sin destroys our relationship with God
and undermines our relationship with other
human beings, 'reconciliation' designates that
precise effect of Christ's redemption of the
human race that restores our relationship with
God and our human fellowship. Christ breaks
down the barriers that sin raises between us and
God, and within the human community.

Our conversion from sin and reception of divine

mercy are continually renewed by confession.
Serious sin separates us from the body of the
church, and sacramental penance reconciles us
with God and the community of his people.

The Forgiveness of Sins | Four Parts
Contrition: A sincere sorrow for having offended
God, and the most important act of the penitent.
There can be no forgiveness of sin if we do not
have sorrow and a firm resolve not to repeat our
sin.
Confession: Confronting our sins in a profound
way to God by speaking about them, aloud to
the priest.
Penance: An important part of our healing is the

PAGE 41
'penance' the priest imposes in reparation for
our sins.
Absolution: The priest speaks the words by
which 'God, the father of mercies' reconciles a
sinner to
himself through the merits of the cross.
The Eucharist completes Christian initiation.
Through this sacrament of initiation we
participate with the whole community of
believers in the Lord’s own sacrifice. The
Eucharist (from the Greek word Eucharistic
'thanksgiving') is the sacrament of the body and
blood of Christ in which he is present under the
forms of bread and wine offering himself in the
sacrifice of the Mass and giving himself as
spiritual food to the faithful.

At the Last Supper, the Lord instituted the
Eucharistic sacrifice of his body and blood. He
did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the
cross throughout the ages until he should come
again, and so to entrust to the church a
memorial of his death and resurrection. The
Eucharist is the source and summit of the
Cristian life.

PAGE 42
CONFIRMATION BRINGS TO COMPLETION
THE GRACE RECEIVED THROUGH BAPTISM.
BY THIS SACRAMENT THE BAPTIZED ARE
MORE PERFECTLY BOUND TO THE
CHURCH AND ARE ENRICHED BY THE
STRENGTH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. THIS GIFT
CONFORMS BELIEVERS MORE FULLY TO
CHRIST AND STRENGTHENS THEM TO
BEAR WITNESS TO CHRIST FOR THE
BUILDING UP OF HIS BODY IN FAITH AND
LOVE.
The marriage covenant prefigures the new and
everlasting covenant between the Son of God
and all mankind. Through this sacrament,
Christians signify and share in the mystery of the
unity and fruitful love that exists between Christ
and his church. Christian couples are to strive to
nourish and develop their marriage by undivided
affection in good times and in bad.

PAGE 44
THE SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE
SICK WAS INSTITUTED BY CHRIST, WHO
HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART FOR
THOSE WHO SUFFER. THERE ARE SPECIAL
GRACES AVAILABLE THROUGH THIS
SACRAMENT, AND ALL FAITHFUL ARE
ENCOURAGED TO RECEIVE IT WHEN THEY
ARE IN NEED (WE SHOULD REMEMBER
THAT THIS SACRAMENT CAN BE RECEIVED
MORE THAN ONCE, AND IS NOT ONLY
RESERVED FOR THE ELDERLY OR DYING).
AS THE CATECHISM TEACHES, ONE WHO
RECEIVES THE SACRAMENT RECEIVES 1) A
PARTICULAR GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,
WHICH INCLUDES FORGIVENESS OF SINS;
2) UNION WITH THE PASSION OF CHRIST,
WHERE ONE'S SUFFERING BECOMES A
PARTICIPATION IN THE SAVING WORK OF
JESUS; 3) A PREPARATION FOR THE FINAL
JOURNEY WHICH FORTIFIES OURSELVES
LIKE A SOLID RAMPART FOR THE FINAL
STRUGGLES BEFORE ENTERING THE
FATHERS HOUSE.
ONLY A PRIEST CAN ADMINISTER THIS
SACRAMENT. SO THE NEXT TIME YOU OR

PAGE 45
SOMEONE YOU LOVE IS SERIOUSLY ILL,
CALL A PRIEST AND ALLOW THE GRACES
OF THE SACRAMENT TO BRING THE
HEALING TOUCH OF JESUS CHRIST.
“The faithful expect only one thing from priests:
that they be specialists in promoting the
encounter between man and God. The priest is
not asked to be an expert in economics,
construction or politics. He is expected to be an
expert in the spiritual life.”  Pope Benedict XVI

God made you for a unique purpose. Even

before you were born, he knew your vocation,
your mission in life. And if you are a faithful
Catholic man, God may be calling you for a
higher purpose to become a Catholic priest.
Priests have a critical mission: to bring people to
Jesus and Jesus to people.  They are spiritual
fathers to thousands of Catholics. They preach
the Gospel and offer the sacrifice of the Mass.
In short, priests are living witnesses of Christ in
the world men of strong character who stand out
in our secular culture.
A good priest is a spiritual hero, a man who
sacrifices himself for the people of God.

PAGE 46
So that we have come to a conclusion I would like to
declare saying that The
Source Of God’s
Privilege is Our Sacraments in
our own religion
