Question 5
Two game viewers see a giraffe at point C. The first game viewer is at a viewing spot at point A, elevated 𝑥𝑥
metres above the ground. The second game viewer is on the ground at point D. The angle of elevation of A
from C is 𝛼𝛼, BD C = 𝜃𝜃 and BC D = 𝛽𝛽. B, D and C are in the same horizontal plane and A, B and C are in
the same vertical plane.
b. Hence show that the distance between the second game viewer (point D) and the giraffe
𝑥𝑥.sin(𝜃𝜃+𝛽𝛽)
is given by: CD = (4)
