Presents this Action Research Proposal entitled:

Syntactical Analysis on Students’ Composition:

Proposed Intervention Plan

JASON R. MANINGO
October 2021
CONTEXT AND RATIONALE

The unprecedented health threat has brought enormous challenges economically,

socially, and politically all over the world. The educational system in the Philippines has

been greatly affected by this pandemic. According to (UNESCO Learning Portal,

2020), The pandemic has resulted in an educational crisis as well as a health

catastrophe. 87 percent of the world's student population was affected by lockdowns and

quarantines, and 1.52 billion students were absent from school and related educational

institutions. With the suddenness, unpredictability, and volatility of COVID-19, the

school sector has been rushing to meet the new learning landscape.

In line with it, the teaching and learning process have blend in the need for

learning even amid pandemic. Considering the difficulty that the learners face, the

learners must adhere to modular learning as it is the best possible way in Pilar Camotes to

ensure continuity of learning. Thus, the teacher oversees keeping track of the students'

development. The teacher can be contacted by the students by e-mail, phone, text

message/instant messaging, and other means. When feasible, the instructor should make

home visits to students who require remediation or help (Llego, n.d.). Teachers or Local

Government Officials will give printed Modules to students, parents, or guardians.

Given the situation, the learners badly need the assistance of their teachers most

especially in language learning. The researcher use this as an opportunity to analyze the

syntactical competence of the students from their compositions. Additionally, the

term linguistic competence refers to the unconscious knowledge of grammar that allows a

speaker to use and understand a language. Also known as grammatical competence or I-

language. Through this the researcher seeks to analyze the composition of the learners

and use that analysis to propose interventions to address the syntactical competence.

ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS

This action research seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the level of the learners in terms of syntactical competence?

2. What is the possible intervention/s you can propose to address the issues on

syntactical competence?

PROPOSED INNOVATION, INTERVENTION, AND STRATEGY
