 THE IMPORTANCE OF THE AWARENESS OF DYSLEXIA

What is Dyslexia actually? Dyslexia is a common learning difficulty that can cause problems
with reading, writing and spelling. It's a specific learning difficulty, which means it causes
problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing. But,unlike a
learning disability,the intelligence will not be affected. Symptoms of dyslexia usually become
more obvious when children start school and begin to focus more on learning how to read and
write.Because these symptom mainly appear on schoolchildren, the teachers really need to
pay attention closely to them.So,all the trainee teachers out there need to realize how
important it is to be aware of dyslexia before they step into the world of teaching.

This is because students with dyslexia is not like other normal students.So,the teachers who
want to teach them need to use a special teaching method that are suitable for their minds.The
future teachers or more specifically, the trainee teachers should prepare themselves
completely in case they come across these special kids.If they do not use the correct method
of teaching them, the students will not be able to cope with their learning style and it can result
to failure in examination,extreme stress and low self-esteem upon the special students.The
trainee teachers should be aware of how to identify and differentiate between the normal
students and the dyslexia students.They should do some researches of how to deal with them
correctly and they should never treat them with ignorance and ridicule just because they are
different and slower than others.So,we can see how important it is for a trainee teacher to be
aware of dyslexia because a teacher can make their students successful but they also can
destroy their students self-esteem with the way of their teaching and communicating with
them.

Other than that,some dyslexia patients do not even realize that they actually have
problems.They simply think that they are just slower than others because of their way of study
or something else.Even worse,there are some parents that do not know that their children
actually have problems with learning and actually scold and ridicule them when they got a bad
examination results.So the responsibility to acknowledge and help this kind of students falls
upon the teachers.That is why a trainee teacher must ready themselves and learn how to be
able to recognize these students and help them strive in their academics.A dyslexia student
will usually have difficulty to read,write and even cannot speak properly and smoothly.The
main person that actually can help them is their teacher.With these expalanation,we know that
teachers is the most suitable person to help these dyslexia students so that is why teachers
should be aware of their difficulty to cope in learning.

Not only that if a teacher is a aware of any dyslexic student in their class,they can make a
special learning class using the right technique for the students. This way,the dyslexic students
will not fall behind and fail in their examination. The teacher can also teach them how to
overcome their certain difficulty in learning.Usually,a dyslexic students will feel
nervous,anxious and scared to go to school because they afraid that their teachers will scold
them because they are not a bright and brilliant student.So,teachers should show to them that
they should not feel like that and teach them how to be the kind of student that they hope to
be.

So,we can see that it is very important for trainee teachers to be aware of dyslexia.They should
be trained realy well to handle this before they start teaching because if not,they will not be
able to handle these kind of students really well if they come upon them.All the teachers in the
world are the hope of every parents to make their children a good and intelligent student.So,
teachers should be ready for every kind of challenges that will come across them in the way
of their work.
