GOOD NEWS TRAVELS FAST
On arrival in the United States, late in
January, Alan called in at the New York
Organization. He agreed to lecture and one
hour later lectured to 150 people. Twenty
hours later, he gave a second lecture which
was attended by 350 people.

Top Organization, for the third successive
time, is the NEW YORK ORGANIZA­
TION. The New York Organization is also
awarded the Saint Hill Special Briefing

Raymond and his attractive wife, Pam, are

activity, Raymond maintains a successful
career as a Magician and is a member of the
Magic Inner Circle Society. Raymond also

disseminates Scientology in his salon, with
posters and a big display of Scientology
books by L. Ron Hubbard. Raymond and

Commander Jill van Staden and Lieuten­
ant Wally Burgess of the Sea Organization
arrived in Perth, Western Australia, on
Saturday, 24th February, on a special mis­
sion for L. Ron Hubbard. Their purpose was
to ensure that Scientology Ethics is used
correctly in Perth.
They arrived on a Saturday afternoon and
found the organization dosed. Within an
hour, all staff were present Commander van
Staden declared the organization in a con­
dition of Non-Existence. The organization
did not exist for the residents of Perth.
Suppressive persons working in the
organization and in the area were located,
and immediately correctly labelled.
Special handout leaflets were prepared and
over 3,000 were distributed in Perth.
The Test Centre was put in again and a
large red and white sign announcing this
new service was put up outside the front
door.
The film “An Introduction to Scientology”
featuring L. Ron Hubbard is now being
screened each Monday to Friday night A
daily free lunch-hour lecture was started.
L. Ron Hubbard personally advised Perth
organization to apply standard ethics, keep
technology high and get all the people of
Perth to attend the free Personal Efficiency
lecture and make Perth the first all-Scien-
tology city in the world.
These actions immediately resulted in
large numbers of new people coming into
the organization. Old-time Scientologists
were called in and had their ARC Breaks
or upsets handled. Formerly unmoving
cases have been cracked using new Search
and Discovery technology.
Action level soared to a new high under
the direction of the new Organization Secre­
tary Michael Graham and HCO Secretary
Cheryl Chopping. Good Scientologists
appeared and requested to join staff. It was
now a privilege to work on such a staff.
The staff in Perth, in two or three days,
blossomed from a number of individuals into
a powerful team working together to make
Ron’s postulates stick, using ethics correctly
to get and keep technology in.
One staff member remarked; ‘This
organization has changed from a social club
into a live industry.”
A journalist on the local University paper
arrived on the doorstep wanting to know
"What’s going on here?”
Jill and Wally left Perth on Sunday, 3rd
March, very happy with their mission to
Perth.
Perth organization is now expanding at a
vast rate, determined to make Perth the first
all-Scientology city in the world.

SAINT HILL
WILLIAM BURROUGHS, intemation-
ally-famous American author of five novels,
is now a Grade VA Release and a Solo
Audit Course student at Saint Hill.
William graduated from Harvard in 1936
and did post-graduate work in anthropology.
Later, he did a variety of work until becom­
ing a professional writer in 1950.
His first introduction to Scientology was
in 1959 when he read “Dianetics: The
Modern Science of Mental Health” by L.
Ron Hubbard. At this time he did not do
anything further. Then, in autumn 1967, he
was experiencing difficulty writing his latest
book so read further Scientology books. As
a creative writer he was particularly intri­
gued by L. Ron Hubbard’s ‘‘The Creation of
Human Ability”. By mid September 1967, he
was doing his Level O Academy training in
the London Organization.
In November he received auditing to
Grade IV Release with very definite gains,
including the ability to get a third more
writing work done, discovering fresh areas
of very valuable fictional material and
achieving the ability to communicate with
real people rather than with imaginary
characters.
THE AT
WORLD
Moving on to Level I Academy training,
at the London Org, William was gratified to
see the results he achieved on the three pre­
clears he audited at that level.
On 26 January, 1968, he was audited at
Saint Hill on the Power Processes, to Grade
VA Release. Afterwards he declared, “Any­
one who experiences Power Processing
knows that he has been released and that he
has regained his power that he can now
apply to his life and work.” The next day,
he sat down and wrote, with no effort, a
chapter he had been trying to write for the
past month.
William has found that his ability to
create fictional characters and situations has
measurably increased with Scientology pro­
cessing and that the cost of his processing
has already been recovered by the sale of
stories he could not have written without
processing. He strongly contests the widely
held misconception that artists create be­
cause they are neurotic and would cease to
create if they were restored to well-being.
He says, “I am convinced that whatever any­
one does, he will do it better after process­
ing.”
William is now well advanced on the road
to Clear.

The well-known face of Tony Hitchman, who interviewed L. Ron Hubbard in the film “An
Introduction to Scientology” and became a Scientologist as a result of the interview. Tony is

ABRAHALL, now Grade VI Release, was a
Lieutenant Governor of one of the three
regions of Nigeria when he retired from
Civil life in 1952. He was knighted for his
services and returned to England.
For several years, Sir Chandos found
time to pursue his life-long interest in art
and has already sold a number of the paint­
ings which he did in this period. Then in
October, 1966, his life took a completely
new direction. He and his wife, LADY
JANE HOSKYNS-ABRAHALL, heard a
lecture by an old-time Dianeticist about
Dianetics and Scientology, in the north of
England.
They read "Dianetics: The Modern
Science of Mental Health” by L. Ron Hub­
bard and were struck by the true, original
and vital nature of Ron’s work.
In January, 1967, Sir Chandos and Lady
Jane had auditing to Grade IV Release, and
training to Class O, in the Hubbard Scien­
tology Organization in London. They were
almost startled by the many gains which
they made from the very beginning of their
auditing.
Not Tong after, Sir Chandos and his wife
came to Saint Hill for Power Processing,
after which Sir Chandos commented, “The
further I go in Scientology, the more under­
standing I have.”
Training on the Hubbard Dianetic
Auditor's Course in the London Academy
followed and then the Solo Audit Course at
Saint Hill. Since then Sir Chandos and Lady
Jane have flown to the Advanced Org in
Valencia, Spain, to continue on the road
to Total Freedom.

In 1966, producer/director T O N Y
HITCHMAN was the local Head of Tele­
vision Programmes in Salisbury, Rhodesia.
He interviewed L. Ron Hubbard in Salis­
bury for television and radio when Ron
visited Rhodesia and the interview changed
his life. Tony is now Clear 674.
Tony had interviewed Prime Ministers,
dukes, film stars, composers, intellectuals
and a host of world-famous personalities
but interviewing L. Ron Hubbard was a
completely different experience.
Following the initial interviews, Ron
agreed to a long filmed interview with Tony.
This film, during which Ron answers a wide
range of questions about Scientology, was
made into the famous three-part introductory
film, “Introduction to Scientology”, now
widely shown to the public in Scientology
Organizations.
By the end of the filming Tony was a
Scientologist and he decided to come to Saint
Hill. “It was irresistible,” he says, “Nothing
less than Clear could satisfy me after that
interview! ”
He left bis position in Rhodesian tele­
vision and arrived at Saint Hill at the end of
September 1967. Within ten weeks he had
completed the Dianetic Auditor’s Course,
Power Processing, the Solo Audit Course
and the Clearing Course. Two weeks before
Christmas he checked out as Clear 674 and
declared, “Everything that Ron said in that
interview came true—and in such a short
time!”
Early in 1968, Tony will bring his wife
from Rhodesia for the non-professional
route to Clear. He intends to work to the
fullest of his ability to help Ron and Scien­
tology to Clear the world.
RELEASED CREATIVITY
Scientology processing and training at the
New York Org brought about a flowering in
the artistic career of JAMES DAVIS, Grade
IV Release from Richmond, Virginia.
In 1964, James was “making the rounds’*
unsuccessfully seeking work as a professional

Scientology from successful actress, KAREN
BLACK, Grade VA Release. As a result he
had Scientology processing and immediately
afterwards got the first acting job that he
auditioned for. Since this success, an appear­
ance in the New York Shakespeare Festival,
he has continued to make money as an
actor.
Within two months The Show Room’s gross
income had doubled, so a new room was
added, as well as more staff. In October a
hair styling section was established in
another additional room. By the application
of Scientology data about expansion, the
income of this section alone was increased
quickly by a factor of ten! Then followed
the invitation to run an exclusive store for
the “XYZ” Club, television and newspaper
coverage of The Show Room's strikingly
original and attractive designs, and plans to
erect a new building with the whole of the
ground floor devoted to Ther!Show Room.

poem. Now he has not only finished his
first sonnet but has a whole volume of
poetry well under way.

to do the Solo Audit Course and the Clear­
ing Course.

SAN FRANCISCO
INCOME DOUBLED
San Francisco Org, located only a block
from Union Square near the heart of the
city, is actively serving the San Francisco
Bay area. The org started as a Franchise
Centre and became an org in January, 1967.
Within ten months the numbers on staff
increased continually and there are now
twenty-three staff members. Nearly all the
staff members are products of the org's own
Academy and Hubbard Guidance Centre.
Public Lectures and the org’s magazine,
’■Gateway”, are reaching out to greatly
increase the flow of people through the org.
PERTH
Staff members of the Perth Org were not
stopped by a postal strike from widely pub­
licizing the two Jecture* in their Qrg by the
world’s first Clear, JOHN McMASTER. The
mail was delivered by hand, by Perth Scien­
tologists, within two days and cars were used
to deliver mail to outlying suburbs and
country districts. The result was large en­
thusiastic audiences at both lectures. John,
who spoke at the Perth Town Hall, met the
press and was interviewed on television. His
visit made a tremendous impression in
Western Australia.

television appearances have been arranged,
as well as interviews with the press. Every

LONDON
On January 17th and 21st, 1968, JOHN
McMASTER visited London as part of his
world tour of all Scientology Orgs. John
gave two inspiring lectures and played two
tape recorded L. Ron Hubbard lectures in­
cluding the unique recording of the first
Advanced Organization Graduation Cere­
mony during which L Ron Hubbard gives
a lecture on the fast flow system of examina­
tion without inspection.
After the well-organised lectures, scores
of people visited the Registrar, bought books
ana signed up for training and processing
These included 64 people new to Scientology.

LT. PAYER. Clear 329, Sea Org Officer,
has recently visited the Port Elizabeth Org
to introduce the fast flow system there. The
fast flow system, which was developed by
L. Ron Hubbard for the Advanced Org, is
now to be employed in all Orgs.
Port Elizabeth’s tape play of “Ron’s
Journal ’67“ was an important event for
Scientologists in the area. Sign-ups for train­
ing and processing and for joining the staff
immediately followed.
M INNEAPOLIS
The well-organized team of staff members
of the Minneapolis Org has recently doubled
the Org’s previous highest-ever figure for
income. WALLY HANDELAND, dear 343,

Toronto Org has its ARC-Break Pro­
gramme running smoothly and well.
The filmed interview with L. Ron Hub­
bard, “Introduction to Scientology,” is being
shown every week as part of the introductory

them to Saint Hill for further services. The
result has been a strong and continuing
expansion and rising statistics.

Miami Scientologists have recently heard
Ron’s inspiring message on the tape, “Ron's
Journal ’67”. Now the Miami Org is heavily
publicizing the eagerly-awaited visit of
JOHN McMASTER. Clear I, who will be
arriving in Miami on 6th April, 1968. John
will bring to Miami Ron's latest message
from the Advanced Org and will contact all
Scientologists in the area to tell them about
the fantastic wins of Scientology on the
upper levels above Clear.

Executive Course. The regular Sunday night

The wife of a new Grade IV Release saw
the change in her husband and wanted audit­

When over 400 Scientologists arrived at
Saint Hill on Sunday# 31a December, 1967,
to hear a lecture by JOHN McMASTER,
the world's first Clear, the Saint Hill Chapel
was completely filled and two extra rooms
had to he used. John's inspiring lecture was
relayed to the overflow crowds by high
fidelity amplifiers.
When John speaks, crowds appear. This

recently spent some months in Melbourne
after completing the Saint Hill Special Brief­
ing Course at Saint Hill.
Fred wrote to Saint Hill and reported that
Scientology is flourishing in Melbourne
Fred wrote:
“Scientology Is really swinging In Mel­
bourne. Quite a few people will be leaving
shortly for Saint Hill and can't get over there
fast enough Since I have been back, the
place Is really on the up and up. New people
want to come In and old timers are getting
back uti the road.
* MJohn Palhnff and Rob Hopper made a
tour of all the Organizations in Australia,
with Open Nights at each Org. They also
stopped in at Melbourne, and Melbourne
topped the list with attendances. 125 Scien­
tologists turned up. Some of them hadn't
done anything In Scientology since 1954, *55
and *56. Some of them thought they were the
only one's left In Victoria and got a big
surprise to discover that there were two
active groups there
“Yesterday, I met three people who
planned to go to Saint Hill In about six to
eight months' time. When they finished talk­
ing to me the time got narrowed down to
three weeks, just enough time to get their
passports and necessary papers In order.
